First off- it's Best Western so my expectations where in the right place. It's like Toyota Camry: predictable, gets you there in comfort yet not exactly inspiring. The view from the room, however was terrific. I knew about the train noise issue from reading the reviews so my expectation was in the right place, and it wasn't that bad. The... more

This hotel was chosen for its location amidst the beauty of the Colombia River Scenic area. It is cental to important points of interest, and right on the river. Amenities included an indoor pool and hot tub, and a nice deck overlooking the river. The deck was the place to enjoy the view and the extra $ the river front... more

The room was fine and pool good however, the breakfast let this hotel down. The breakfast room is very small and floor was dirty. The 'hot' water for tea was luke warm, and when this was mentioned, the solution suggested was to heat water in the microwave! The internet connection (computer in lobby) was hit and miss and had to... more

Over the years we have stayed here a half dozen times since this property is right off of Interstate 84 between Portland and Hood River, OR. The rooms have basic beds/bedding and are clean. One side of the hotel overlooks the Columbia River which is a beautiful view. However, I noticed on this last stay in February 2008 when our... more

As a family of 3, we stayed in this hotel for one night on each of two occasions. The bedrooms were comfortable, with air conditioning. However, at this time of year there are a multitude of flying bugs at dusk and around the external lights. There is ample parking and the hotel is right by the Columbia River, so go... more

Stayed in the area for business then family visits. Found the Hotel overall to be clean and well maintained. Showing it's age a little but nothing that I consider detrimental yet. Rates were good for the size and condition of the room. The stern or paddle-wheel boat trip nearby is nice... Used to live in the Hood River area and... more

Booked through the Hotel's 1-800 reservation system, hotel not reachable by 1-800 from Canada. Asked for NON-SMOKING room and got a SMOKING ROOM!! ABOSOLUTELY STUNK. Keeping windows open day and night did not alleviate the stink and the fan/air conditioning smelled worse than the room. Noisey highway and train traffic, did not sleep well for 4 nights. Will NEVER stay... more

If you love trains you'll love this place. We found a very clean and well appointed room with a beautiful view of the Columbia River and the Bridge of the Gods. Just below the motel is a railroad track. Trains rumble by in the middle of the night. You can hear them a mile or so before they pass by... more

Stayed for one night on the way to Washington. Very large room, enormous. Nice room, but kind of pricey for the area. Bed was OK, but not the best. Could use a mattress turn. It was OK, and might stay there again, but don't know if the price is justified except that they are the only decent place in town.... more

Great location on the river in the middle of the Columbia River Gorge area, right at the Bridge of the Gods. Clean, comfortable well furnished and equipped. Beautiful views. The trains are not too bad and only come for a few minutes every few hours. This is a very convenient location to tour the Columbia River highway and Mt. Hood.... more
