After a bad experience at a Best Western in Eugene, I was hoping that the Cascade Inn would live up to my expectations. Thankfully the inn exceeded my expectations. We were given a two queen bedroom with a couch, table, and river view which was perfect for our family of five. The room was clean, fairly quiet and quite entertaining. After a great nights sleep the kids and I enjoyed watching tugs and barges go up and down the river, as well as watching trains along tracks on both sides of the river. The kids loved the swimming pool and the river walk area outside of the hotel. My only complaint about the inn is the breakfast room. It is very small and had no highchair for us to use for our eight month old infant. The three kids and I attempted to eat our breakfast in the river view room adjacent to the pool area, and were not very successful in not making a mess on the carpet or not having to make many trips to the breakfast room. On our one month trip down the coast. We landed in Cascade Locks after a full day of hiking in the Ape Caves. The cascade river valley is amazing and it seemed like a good stopping place. The Best Western was filled, but they gave us a sheet of other local hotels (very helpful). The first place we stopped in was AAA approved and was a dump. We kept going and found the Cascade Inn which was quiet, clean and perfect for our stay. We walked to a great park on the river for a few hours of rest (and passed many many ripe blackberry bushes). The staff were helpful and friendly and it was a nice place for our one-night stop over.
