This was our first trip to cannon beach. We stayed in a pet friendly one bedroom unit with our dog. The unit was already booked for one of the nights we were planning on staying, so we ended up in the suite for 2 nights, and a regular room for the 3rd. The suite was badly slanted, and the front... My husband and I were looking for a reasonably priced place to stay in Cannon Beach and we came across the Ecola Creek Lodge. We were thrilled to see that they took pets. We had read a few negative reviews and are not really sure why they deserved that. They had finished the remodel before we got there and the... More

I first discovered Ecola Creek in 2001 when, under a previous owner, the marketing slogan was "no more cookie cutter motels." It was true to its word - a very unique property that reminds me of something you would find in a small English village, or at least in New England: red brick, cedar shakes, classic garden, quiet, and unique,... We did not have a good experience at the Ecola Creek Lodge and would not recommend this accommodation. It is an old facility which shows its age, and if other rooms are like the one we had, there is a need for major upgrading. Overall, the unit was reasonably clean but there is only so much you can do with... More

Management response:

In our last Management response on Trip Advisor, we restated our ongoing commitment to the facilities and services at Ecola Creek Lodge. That commitment is still being fulfilled as evidenced by the continuing up-grades of facilities and replacements etc. Our hope in the meantime, is when our guests have a 'negative experience' whether in services or facilities, that they voice... this is a lovely quiet spot, with great rooms (we've stayed in two, both dog-friendly, both comfy and soothing). closer to the north end of the beach, which is much less crowded than the south, and more dramatic...which is what we prefer. an easy walk to the beach, and an easy walk into town (I was confused by the review... The last time that we stayed in Cannon Beach, we stayed at the Schooners Cove Inn, which was nice, but this time we were only staying one night en route down the Oregon coast, and the only room they had left was edging towards $300 a night. We decided to stay at the Ecola Creek Lodge and were pleasantly surprised.... More

Very good value. Cute, clean, good sized rooms. I called Saturday morning for a room that evening and one had just opened up, so we snatched it. Very glad we did. We'll definitely be back.

Barbara the Inn Keeper is great, but the blondish woman who works the desk weekdays doesn't even say thank you after dropping nearly $600 for 3 days. In fact she doesn't even smile. She needs a job in the laundry room where she can sort things out. And management could learn a little PR too.

Management response:

" Thank you for your feedback concerning your recent stay at Ecola Creek Lodge. We value the feedback of all our guests, and are disheartened whenever we hear that a guest's experience does not meet their expectations or our own standard of excellence. Since the purchase of Ecola Creek Lodge in December 2003, the management team has been committed to,... More

The Ecola Creek Lodge has a great charm about it. Rustic – but slowly being completely renovated- it sits just outside the great art town of Cannon Beach, and just below the “must-see” Ecola State Park. (The park has views of the rugged coastline going miles south, and is fantastic.) We were last at the lodge around 2or 3 years... More

Great location especially if visiting Ecola state park. A little far from the center of town to walk however. A moderate walk to the beach if you would like to do that. As far as the rooms are concerned we stayed in the two story units and had a view of the ocean from the second floor. The room believe... More
