We are B&B people, preferring them to hotels. And we travel a lot. So, when we say that Sage Country Inn is the best B&B we've stayed at in the US, we speak from lots of experience. I had always wanted to visit Eastern Oregon for the scenery and wildlife. But, good grief, where to stay? I selected Burns as... More

Sage Country Inn in Burns, Oregon, is a wonderful bed and breakfast that is lovingly cared for and expertly managed with much attention to detail. My husband and I spent 3 nights there during our exploration of the Steens Mountain Wilderness. We stayed in the spacious Cattlebaron room, complete with comfortable queen bed, private bath, and tasteful "cowboy" décor. We... More

We stayed here for one night in June and wished we would have more time to stay. Lovely house and grounds. Beautifully kept. Room large and comfortable. A fantastic cooked breakfast and very friendly host. Would recommend to anyone.

We love Sage Country Inn and owners Mike and Corinne. We've stayed in many, many B&B's and it's still the best. The rooms are beautiful. The house is stunning. Breakfast is world class. Close enough to downtown to walk. Much wild life to see in Harney County, but you may just want to sit on the front porch and knit... More

We highly recommend the Sage Country Inn. We wanted a quiet, clean place to stay but not a hotel or motel. Our room (The Cattle Baron's Room) had a comfy queen bed, lots of light, a great private bathroom, and lots of privacy. The breakfast was perfection. We are vegetarians and there was no problem accommodating our dietary choice.

This was the second time we visited this great old country home. The bed was comfortable, the breakfast is very good, and chatting with Mike the owner was a wealth of information. If you are traveling through Burns, this is the best option for the night. See you guys next year!

Just stopped in for one night on our way through. The home and grounds are perfectly restored and maintained. There's a lovely outdoor gazebo, a comfy front porch, and two sitting areas inside. And breakfast was wonderful! We'd definitely stay here again. Be sure to ask for directions to Linda's Thai Room for dinner. Wonderful, authentic Thai food.

Four of us stayed 2 nights at this lovely old home. The amenities were perfect; the grounds beautifully landscaped; breakfasts excellent; we enjoyed drinking champagne on the front porch one evening; hanging out in the gazebo in the afternoon; and a good location to bird watch around the area. Highly recommended.

When you are in Burns for the night which would you rather enjoy, a hot cider by a cozy fire, a comfy bed in a beautifully appointed room, and a delicious breakfast served piping hot by funny interesting inn keeper or sitting in a sterile motel room, sleeping on a lumpy bed and a not so stellar restaurant breakfast....no brainer... A wonderful B&B after staying in hotels for 2 weeks, A warm welcome, comfortable room and good ensuite. Details like a fridge on the landing, lounge with books, sweets on the bedside table, homely décor made it very enjoyable. The breakfasts were the best of my trip, freshly cooked, great to eat and completely different to standard hotel food, well... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Sage Country Inn has been described as an oasis in the middle of the desert. The Inn is located in the heart of town and is a great place to come back to after a day of exploring the high desert. We have a large yard with several spots to sit, relax, and enjoy the quiet, peaceful lifestyle of small town America. You will find the Inn and your room to be unfussy, clean and comfortable. The common areas have ample room for reading, visiting, or watching TV. On cool nights, a real wood fire will be going in the fireplace. We also offer a full hot breakfast in the morning, featuring fresh fruit and piping hot selections right out of the oven. ... more   less
