We have stayed here and at the nearby Frenchglen Hote. We prefer the Frenchglen by a very small margin but this place is wonderful, too. Diamond Oregon is in the middle of nowhere, near the Maheur Wildlife Refuge and Steen Mountains. It is a lovely place. Rooms were clean and comfortable. I have just returned from a tour of SE Oregon, and spent a night at the Hotel Diamond, in tiny Diamond Oregon (population 5). The Hotel Diamond is the "prettier sister" to the Frenchglen Hotel , where I stayed the previous night--sisters in that they hail from the same era, and that they are the only accomodations for miles and... more

This restored old hotel brings you back in time and lets you escape from reality during your visit. The hosts treat you like royalty and assist you in every need. The family style dinners this hotel serves is the best food I have had anywhere. The screened off front porch is inviting in the evenings to enjoy the desert scenery... more
