I've been going to the Olallie Lake area for 19 years now and still consider it my "home in the hills". While I began by camping at "camp ten" - which included two bear encounters, I recently began staying at the cabins.
My posse and I love the cabins. Whether there is piped-in gas available, or even drinking water - we love them just the same (never go into the mountains with expectations of convenience - always go prepared!).
The current on-site manager is Robert, who can always be found giving friendly advice and going the extra mile for his visitors.
With that said, my only disappointment is the lack of communication between the person who takes the reservations (in bend) and the folks up at the lake (no phones, no INET). It is quite probable that after booking online via the Olallie Lake web site that you'll arive only to find your reservation did not make it up there and so - off to sleep in the sticks you go!
