McMenamin’s St. Francis School Hotel, Bend We loved this hotel. It was probably one of the coolest places we have ever stayed. The room was large, clean, and super quiet. The rooms were well-appointed and comfortable; we did not try the pub, although it seemed friendly and everything smelled good. We took advantage of the Turkish pool both at night... more

McMenamins Old St. Francis School is a fun place to stay. They've done a great job with old photos of the school, students and lots of info about the teachers who used to work there (the rooms are named after the teachers). The rooms are nice - but a bit dark though. They are pine walls and ceilings, etc. The... more

Unique in a good way! Cleverly decorated rooms--don't hesitate to spend the extra money for the king with the tubs. The open air soaking tub is not only beautiful but very relaxing. Be prepared to go through the bar to get to it; plan ahead and tote your suit to the locker room. Friendly staff, clean rooms, could have used... more

We stayed 2 nights in a King Room. It was a great room with a lot of character. I can say I have never stayed in a hotel like this before, and just for that point I would recommend it. The front desk staff was always so friendly and helpful, even when I awoke at 3 in the morning with... more

We got a "package" from them which included food and a tour with Wanderlust for snowshoeing........We drove 3 hours for this weekend alone (a first away from the new baby!!!) and was dissapointed. First, our front desk lady tells us when we arrive that the snoeshowing tour was gonna be cancelled for us and when we called the company directly,... more

We had the "Hammerhead" package, which includes $70 worth of dinner and breakfast credit. We enjoyed the quirkiness of the setting, while giving up nothing in comfort and amenities. The rooms are very clean, comfortable, cozy and attractively furnished. Knotty pine walls, interesting art, good bed, artsy lighting fixtures, nice gardens, nice (but small) bathroom, great shower (no tub). Loved... more

We were enchanted by the hotel's website--very artsy and different. McMenamin's is a small group of avant garde hotels in the northwest. Our only other choice in Bend would have been the usual chains, but we got lucky and the Art House was available for the night. Hand painted walls, gardens and assorted pubs dot the property. Our cottage was... more

I did not stay in the hotel (we stayed at the Mill Inn which I highly recommend) but I had a drink at the bar and later ate dinner here with my wife. In general the McMenamins establishments are pretty neat. They have artists and designers do them all, and they're really fun. Check out their website. The beer they... more

McMennamins is a great relaxing casual place where you can just hang out and enjoy yourself. They have a pub with dining on the sidewalk out front or in the courtyard or in a more secluded spot with outdoor fires. There is a great Turkish bath for soaking. They play two free movies and you can order food and beer... more

We stayed in the 'European Style' room (i.e. bathroom down the hall) and had a wonderful time. The movie theater as great and who knew you could make a beer float taste that good? While I am sure this would be a nice place with a family my only experience was with just my wife and me. more
