If you're traveling the panhandles, this is a good choice for lodging. Clean, comfortable, and up-to-date, with a friendly and accomodating staff. Room included a fridge, microwave, and hairdryer. Well priced for the area. The lobby is pretty spectacular for a Super 8 (if that matters to you). The minuses are loud guest room doors, even when not slammed, and an A/C unit that kicked on and off with an annoying shudder. There was an occasional train whistle across the street -- requesting a room in the back of the motel would probably minimize the noise from that.
There is a reasonable selection of restaurants in town, although nothing really in the fine-dining category. Of course this is true of Dalhart, Texas and Liberal, Kansas also, the other main choices if you're traveling US-54 and need a place to stay.
All in all a pleasant place to stay, in a friendly small town. Remember, though, this is cattle country. So depending on the wind direction, don't be surprised...
