We were in town for the college homecoming -- expressly for the parade on Sat morning. We requested a handicap accessible room as my husband is disabled and uses an electric scooter for mobility assistance. We were assigned a room on the 2nd floor without a roll in shower and the arrangement of the room was not negotiable for him. There was not space enough to get past the furniture to use the closet. The elevator didn't work on Sat. morning so we were unable to get off the 2nd floor. By the time the elevator was running we missed the parade. We drove 400 miles to participate in the homecoming parade and spent the morning trapped in our hotel room. Why are hotels not putting handicap rooms on ground level? What would have happened in case of a fire? more
