This is a historic hotel and could use some updating, but overall it was clean, comfortable, and charming. We loved that we could walk to all the attractions in Marietta from the hotel, plus loved being on the river. There's a great park right next to the hotel and we took camp chairs and sat out there one night and... More

Located near the juncture of the Muskingam and the Ohio Rivers, the Lafayette Hotel stands like an imperial but tired queen that guards times past. Its views are terrific, its rooms comfortable, its lobbies grand with period furnishings. But its colors are somewhat faded, its floors a bit dusty. What would bring the Lafayette up to speed would be a... More

the Lafayette is almost 100 years old sitting on the banks of the Ohio River ... when entering the lobby you get the feeling you entered the 1930's from the decor and architecture ... yet everything works well from plumbing, AC/heat and a gracious staff ... leave your car in the free parking lot and go walk the lovely town... We held a rehearsal diner in the Sternwell room. The atmosphere of the historic hotel was wonderful. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. we made arrangements for the diner from long distance so my wife and I were a little anxious about what we would expect. Everything turn out perfectly. They allowed us plenty of time to set room... More

My wife and I spent one night here while traveling through, and we loved the experience. Our room was the king suite with a balcony overlooking the Ohio River. The wraparound balcony is a wonderful place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee while taking in the scenery along the river. Pros: the furniture is comprised of beautiful antiques. The... More

Enjoyed a weekend in scenic Marietta as a family get away. This hotel has much that's of interest, the history, architecture, location. We stayed in a king parlor and had a sweeping view of the river. the room was great, roomy and comfortable with a homey feel. the hotel is old and has charm. the only negative was the young... More

The good: very nice large room, clean, worth the price, nice view, bar on site. Restaurant on site. Very nice friendly wait staff at the Gun Room restaurant. Nice view of the river. Wonderful little shops up and down front street. The Buckley house, very nice place to eat and excellent food and good service. This is a fantastic older... More

For the past few years I have checked out a few different New Year's Eve packages. The Lafayette was not my first choice this year however after changes in plans it was a delightful option. The Lafayette is a classic riverboat hotel it has a beautiful entry, great bar area and restaurant. Rooms are not the modern sleek rooms most people... More

Stopped in for a drink on New Year's Eve. Great crowd. Great service from the wait staff. Old building with lots of charm. The locals call in the Lay-Flat. It has great views of the Ohio River and books up years in advance for their annual Sternwheeler festival in September.

Let me begin by telling you what this hotel is not. It is not a reproduction of a riverboat era hotel, it's the real deal, meaning you may see a spot or two of pealing wallpaper or a door jam that doesn't quite match up, or even an unlevel hallway floor. That's all just a part of it's charm. My... More
