If you like Victoriana, quiet, and peace, this is the place for you. This hotel was built in the 19th century and has been gradually restored and maintained over the years. The rooms are charming with period pieces in each room and period-type wallpaper. There is a large, screened-in, wraparound porch that overlooks Lake Erie. You can sit there forever... More

Hotel Lakeside is a 19th century hotel within Chautauqua Lakeside. The rooms are very basic and small (one straight-backed chair, no room for a desk). There are no distractions like a TV, though there is free Wi-fi. It's a fading Victorian Queen that has charm and a very basic restaurant. We did not have a lake view, which would have... More

We had dinner on a busy Sunday night of July 4th week. The lobster bisque was delicious. My fish was properly cooked. There is no wine as this is a religious vacation spot. Once was enough, but it was a pleasant experience.

...the staff was very accommodating of our large group. The beef and potatoes were excellent. Old, Victorian building on the lake--very quaint and scenic. Would recommend the Sunday brunch. Good experience.

We decided to stay at Lakeside because I have a disability which makes traveling far away difficult. I am obsessed with the Victorian era so that was basically the whole reason we chose this place. So.... after driving from Pittsburgh, we were excited to stay in this Victorian hotel. Unfortunately, it was the first day of the season and freezing... More

We have been enjoying this wonderful old hotel for years, however this Labor Day weekend was disappointing. The charm of this old hotel has worn off. This time it was just plain dirty and run down. While the hotel is run by the Lakeside Chautauqua, the amateur management charges professional prices, with rooms running toward $200/night. We checked in and... More

Quaint, charming, lovely, quiet all describe this historic hotel. The room we had was small but clean, comfy bed, clean bathroom. Situated in Lakeside, Oh. So much to do...grab a golf cart and see the little town with old and new homes. Take an ice cream and watch the sunset over Lake Erie from a lakeside bench. Good restaurant, HUGE... More

Wonderful historic ambience. Nice view of the lake. Clean room. No amenities (not even a bottle of water in the empty soda machine). Worst mattress I have ever slept on - so uncomfortable that I couldn't sleep. There are 10-12 parking spots adjacent to the hotel - good luck getting one. No-frills continental breakast - which is all they advertise.... More

My mom and I stay at Hotel Lakeside once a year. If you look at my other reviews You'll notice that I gravitate toward high-end, boutique hotels. This does not fall into either of those categories. What I love about this hotel is the ambiance--unrivaled by anywhere else in the world. The hotel itself is a historic landmark and they've... More
