Old, rustic hotel on the shores of Lake Erie in the gated community of Lakeside, OH. Nothing fancy, but certainly functional when it comes to amenities. The restaurant is under new management and it has definitely improved for light breakfast and lunch fare. The attraction to this area is the outdoor activities, so we don't spend much time in the... The location wins the visitor over. Right on Lake Erie. The wide wrap-around screened porch draws folks for rocking, reading, writing, chatting, card-playing, or just plain lazing while listening to the lake. The rooms are...serviceable. No bedside tables for glasses, clock, book. Only two pillows, which makes it difficult to read in bed. Only straight back chairs in room, no... More

This is a very old hotel in a gated Chautauqua community. It may be best to have a love for nostalgia, especially Victorian era accommodations. Having spent summers at Lakeside as a child, I knew what I was in for. However, it has become run down. The rooms are quaint, but each front window facing Lake Erie has a loud... More

This was our first stay as we usually rent a house. But we came up for the Sandi Patty concert so we just booked two nights for the fun of it. This hotel was built in 1878 so we looked forward to being in that Victorian-era ambiance of this chautauqua enclave. Our room was at the top of the stairs... More

Our second stay at the Hotel Lakeside. This year's trip had some problems. Our room had a large roof leak in the bathroom which rendered the sink unusable (water leaking directly onto the light fixture. The shower had a shortage of hot water. The "included breakfast" was actually a discount on a Sunday brunch that did not start until 10:30... More

When considering Lakeside or the Hotel Lakeside there are several things that you need to keep in mind. Firstly, this is Lakeside Chautauqua; it's not, say, Geneva-on-the-Lake, so you are at a dry, smoke-free campus which was designed, laid out and built in the late nineteenth century. Yes, parking is more than a small challenge at Lakeside and specifically at... More

We've been going to Lakeside for twenty years. We used to have a home there. We now go back a few weekends a summer and stay at a bed and breakfast or the Hotel Lakeside. This hotel needs restoration with updates. I believe, there are plans in the future to do that. Many of the rooms are "much" better than... More

We stayed here for youth annual conference, and i'm glad we did. I liked that there was a beach, however the beach was crowed and not clean. The people at the front desk were friendly. I was not expecting such a wonderful room! It was clean and spacious. Loved the room! I liked the large porch the most. You could... More

Sitting in a porch rocker with the buzz of children down at the dock on a warm summer day, reading a novel in the Victorian Parlor, and chatting with friends over dinner are one-of-a-kind, not-to-be-missed experiences at the Hotel Lakeside, in Lakeside, Ohio. Close your eyes and you are one hundred years in the past. Unfortunately, the rooms reflect that... More

The hotel dates to 1873. It is historic. It was reclaimed from decline i the 1970's. Porch is nice, views are great. We had a 1 double bed room. Antique/ period furniture. Bed was ok. Bath was small and adequate. There are no TV's here. They employ HS and college kids. They just make the beds and leave fresh towels,... More
