My husband and I had the good fortune to make a quick return trip to Huron OH recently, after visiting twice last summer. How pleased we were that Judy at Captain Montague's B&B had room for us on a busy summer weekend! This time we had the incredible luck to book the "Jenny" room or Anniversary Suite - which is... We stayed the fourth of July weekend at Judy's lovely home and had a great weekend. We actually came in for the NHRA race in Norwalk and wanted to stay somewhere nice for the times we were not at the track. The town is small, but packed with water walkways, beaches, dinner options on the river - etc. Everything is... More

We found the history of Huron and Captain Montague's B&B very interesting. The home is in perfect condition, and Judy is so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious and filling. If your looking for comfort that you can't get at a hotel, then check out Captain Montague's B&B the next time you visit Huron, Ohio.

My wife and I recently stayed at Captain Montague's for five days four nights and found it to be exceptionally clean and accommodating. Judy is a wonderful hostess with great stories and she is very knowledgeable about Huron and the surrounding areas. There are many things to do in the area with Cedar Point and the Islands near by. The... More

You will find a charming hostess to welcome you, a lovely room to spend the night and a delicious breakfast to begin your day. Within walking distance of Huron's Boat Basin, there are many possibilities to entertain you throughout the summer months. The Boat Basin hosts various bands each weekend in the amphitheater or take in some of the local... More

We recently stayed at Captain Montague's and really enjoyed it. We were in the Edith Room, very bright and cheery, comfortable, nicely decorated room. Judy was a great host and very helpful. Delicious breakfast. We left our phone charger and she kindly called and then mailed it to us. If we are in the area again we will certainly stay... More

You can't go wrong by spending a night or two at Captain Montague's Bed and Breakfast in Huron, Ohio. It was the perfect retreat for my wife and me. It couldn't have been easier to make reservations over the phone with Judy and receive an email notice of our deposit. We were greeted promptly and warmly at the door by... More

My wife and I stayed in the Anniversary Suite, but had a chance to see most of the guest rooms since we stopped in off peak season. (Our second choice would have been the Captain's Suite). We enjoyed our stay immensely. The large comfortable beautiful home is well appointed, extremely clean and well run. This is truly what we all... More

Captain Montague's B&B is an amazing stay! Judy has the heart of Aunt B and is an incredible cook. My wife and I loved every minute. Great proximity to Cedar Point and Chez Francois. We really enjoyed our stay in the charming home of Captain Montague.

We only had one night to spend at Captain Montague's B&B but it was awesome. We were warmly greeted by Judy when we arrived in the afternoon. After checking in we had a little tour and a bit of history. We asked for suggestions for places to eat, hike and shop. We followed her suggestions and were so happy that... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This elegant Victorian Italianate home was built in the late 1870's by the owner of the lumberyard who was also a master shipbuilder. Capt. C.Z. Montague, a Great Lakes captain of renown, and his wife Sarah purchased the large property in 1890 and were known throughout the area for their grand parties and receptions. Current owners, Judy & Mike Tann, have operated the B&B for 18 years carrying on the tradition of warm hospitality. They have carefully restored each of the guest rooms and all of the common areas to their former beauty. There are 2 parlors, the Irish parlor and the cranberry parlor, where guests can relax. The large dining room with its magnificent Waterford crystal chandelier welcomes guests to a delicious full breakfast ending with the house signature, Irish cottage scones. There is a galley kitchen that guests can use at any time, and there are always snacks and soft drinks available. All five of the guest rooms have private en-suite bathrooms and luxurious linens. The property runs a full city block, so there is ample parking plus lush greenery and vibrant flowers gracing the large gazebo and in-ground swimming pool. Captain Montague's is located just 2 short blocks from Lake Erie to the north and the Huron River to the east. Its location is in the historic district known as the "Old Plat"; a self-guided tour brochure developed by Huron's Historical Society provides detailed information about many of the century homes in the neighborhood. Captain Montague's B&B is a retreat for guests seeking a quiet, relaxed atmosphere where they can refresh both body and soul. The Tanns will see to it that you receive a grand Irish welcome. ... more   less
