We travelled from Perrysburg to Huron for a two night stay at Captain Montegue's. We enjoyed everything about it. The house is beautiful and very comfortable. There is a kitchen to use and snacks set out for guests. The breakfasts were delicious and we really enjoyed talking with Judy. We really enjoyed hearing about the history of the building and... We consider ourselves experienced B&B patrons and when 2 prices are listed the higher is normally for the weekend rate. We chose a Thursday stay and asked for a room (135-155) at the 135 rate. Nothing was said at this time regarding the rate. There was no confirmation and we had to place a 50.00 deposit which was also charged... More

Judy and Mike are gracious and personable hosts. They make guests feel at ease in this beautifully restored home. We were in town for a wedding and were happy to make this B&B part of a celebratory weekend. Judy and Mike were glad to share the interesting history of the home. Knowing how it began, what transformations it has undergone... More

My family lost our sister last spring and wanted to all stay close by each other over the funeral weekend. Judy and Mike couldn't have been more wonderful to us. They reserved the entire house for us so we had our privacy and it felt just like home. They were both thoughtful and kind. The rooms are very large and... More

When I was looking for a place in the Huron area, we came across this B & B. The website made the idea inviting & when I called and talked with Judy the inn keeper, it sounded like the place for my wife & I first year anniversary. Judy was great. She made sure all our needs were met. From... More

We like this place so much we return again and again! From the minute we walk in to the last minute saying good bye to Mike and Judy the experience has always been great. Our room is always clean and cozy. We have stayed in numerous B and B's throughout the country and this one is our favorite. The innkeepers... More

This was our first visit to this stately home located on a quiet, tree lined street in Huron. The location of this B&B is great if you prefer to walk rather than drive. It is only a few blocks to Lake Erie and the side walks along the way make it an easy stroll. There are so many interesting places... More

We just returned from Captain Montagues and once again had a wonderful experience. This was our sixth year in a row visiting this wonderful B & B. Every year we join three other couples here and we just relax and have a great time. Judy and Mike are fabulous hosts and make us feel at home immediately. They are so... More

We chose this place based on the reviews. It was clean and quaint. The room was pretty but not the exceptional room the owners bragged about. There is no central air in this attic room. It was large and the portable air conditioner struggled to keep it cool. Luckily it was not real warm. But the real reason I was... More

This is the information that was found after reviewing the reservation information on file. The reservation was made for two nights Thurs. & Fri. July 4 & 5, 2013 for the Jenny Room, the Anniversary Suite, with an estimated time of arrival between 8 and 10 p.m. The Jenny Room is on the second floor; it is not an attic... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
This elegant Victorian Italianate home was built in the late 1870's by the owner of the lumberyard who was also a master shipbuilder. Capt. C.Z. Montague, a Great Lakes captain of renown, and his wife Sarah purchased the large property in 1890 and were known throughout the area for their grand parties and receptions. Current owners, Judy & Mike Tann, have operated the B&B for 18 years carrying on the tradition of warm hospitality. They have carefully restored each of the guest rooms and all of the common areas to their former beauty. There are 2 parlors, the Irish parlor and the cranberry parlor, where guests can relax. The large dining room with its magnificent Waterford crystal chandelier welcomes guests to a delicious full breakfast ending with the house signature, Irish cottage scones. There is a galley kitchen that guests can use at any time, and there are always snacks and soft drinks available. All five of the guest rooms have private en-suite bathrooms and luxurious linens. The property runs a full city block, so there is ample parking plus lush greenery and vibrant flowers gracing the large gazebo and in-ground swimming pool. Captain Montague's is located just 2 short blocks from Lake Erie to the north and the Huron River to the east. Its location is in the historic district known as the "Old Plat"; a self-guided tour brochure developed by Huron's Historical Society provides detailed information about many of the century homes in the neighborhood. Captain Montague's B&B is a retreat for guests seeking a quiet, relaxed atmosphere where they can refresh both body and soul. The Tanns will see to it that you receive a grand Irish welcome. ... more   less
