We discovered Schouten House here on Trip Advisor, and made the decision to stay here based on the previous reviews. The proprietors (Jodie and Cameron) work hard to deliver a great experience for their guests. We had a very positive experience during our stay here, and would highly recommend Schouten House to anyone looking for accommodations in Swansea. One thing... More

Sitting in the guest lounge next to the blazing fire with Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong quietly filling the background I was expecting Poirot to enter the room. This house is a trip back in time. The breakfast was truly excellent showing off the best of Tasmanian produce. The other reviews here do tell a true story of the comfort... More

Cameron and Jodie made us feel very welcome from the time we arrived at their B & B. Our room was spotlessly clean with plenty of room. The room has period furniture but with all the trimmings. The breakfast was fantastic and our stay was excellent value for money. We will remember Swansea because of our stay at Schouten House.... More

We stayed at Schouten House for 3 nights on our trip up the Eastern coast of Tasmania towards the end of March. We were made very welcome and really enjoyed the old house and the company of our hosts and other visitors. The provision of port in the guest lounge made it easy to socialise with other guests which was... More

We were lucky to find this beautiful historical home as we were driving around Swansea. Even luckier to find out it had a vacancy. Well. From the moment Jody greeted is at the front door, we were blown away. The warm hospitality we recieved from Jody and Cameron, the absolute attention to detail, shows how much they adore their home,... More

A century and a half old stone house, traditionally decorated. Room was a good size with a fairly compact ensuite with shower. A nice parlour if you wanted to stretch out and sip some port. Breakfast was excellent, made from locally sourced fresh ingredients. Only slight negative was the stairs were a bit steep with narrow treads (you get that... More

Being from the UK, many of our bed & breakfast places are exactly like this, so being at Schouten House felt like being at home, which is undoubtedly exactly what the owners hoped! A very warm welcome, and encouragement to enjoy sherry and relax in the main sitting room was a very pleasant start after a long journey and a... More

Stayed for 2 nights as a base to go to Maria Island. Not the best plan in hindsight. It was about 40 minutes away and we almost missed the ferry. If I could have done it again I would have stayed in Orford the night before, then Swansea. The house is a piece of history, The owners clearly want to... More

This inn was the highlight of our one-month 13-hotel Australian trip. We chose this inn because it was halfway between Maria Island and Freycinet National Park, and we couldn't have made a better choice. The house is a beautifully restored mid-1800s building; the room was decorated with antiques. The breakfast was amazing, complete with freshly baked bread and strong coffee.... More

An absolutely delightful place, with wonderful hosts in Jodie and Cameron. The room is extremely comfortable and the fittings and provisions are all of a very high quality. The breakfast is huge and, again, has really good quality ingredients which set us up for the rest of the day! A delight and well worth a visit.
