What a great piece of history, and such an interesting place. Enter through and we were taken back in time, the house has been kept in well condition and visiting helps give a better understanding of Tasmania's history. worth the visit. allow about 1 hr.

From the time we arrived we were made to feel welcome by Christine and Craig. The house is beautiful and full of character. It was warm, clean and very welcoming. Breakfast was great too. Franklin Manor is only a short walk from Strahn so with the parking restrictions it was good to be able to walk into Strahn for the... More

Stayed here for 3 nights and wished it was longer. Wonderful B&B ...actually more like a boutique hotel....just like staying in the English Country side. Wonderful little touches like small pieces of pine brancb on the end of the toilet paper roll and in the towels. Great homemade biscuits to have with your cuppa first thing in the morning. Loved... Likes: the warm and genuine hospitality of Christine and Craig. It was a very cold & wet day when we arrived and Christine had our room all ready with the heater already switched on. The whole B&B, including our room, had a very homely feel to it. We like! Not-so-good: Power failure on the morning we were leaving, but that's... More

Looks ok from the out side and looked reasonably ok on the website - but its a boading house with 14 rooms that has become a B and B and the room was quite small for its cost - also noisy due to cars reving up and moving and parking out side the window of the room and people talking... More

We wanted a traditional, heritage style of accomadation, this beautifull home was perfect. We were greeted ,made to feel right at home.Spotless, comfortable rooms, cosy open fires in guest lounges, big comfy couches, well stocked honesty bar, just the way to end the day with a glass of wine by a roaring fire.Breakfast, again fireside in traditional dining style, the best home made bircher, great selection of yoghurts fresh fruits and... Our hosts Christine and Craig were very welcoming and charming and run this beautiful old harbour master's house with great efficiency. There are two guest lounges with roaring (much needed) fires with magazines and books available. One night we self-catered for dinner and ate in front of the fire on crockery provided by Christine. We spent 2 nights in an... More

I am not a fan of B&B style accommodation, but found Franklin Manor to be of the highest standard, could not fault anything with our stay, the rooms are more than comfortable, really enjoyed our celebration bottle of champagne in one of the formal lounges with the open fire going and an abundance of books of interest and magazines to... Christine and Craig are the very professional and helpful managers of Franklin Manor. On check in, we were given a tour of the lovely breakfast room and two impressive guest lounges with newspapers and magazines. In addition, a bar area offered bottles of wine on an honour system, and good stemware which could be borrowed for one’s own wines. Our... More

We stayed at this wonderful colonial house by the bay that serves as a bed and breakfast with room for 12 guests. The house—originally called "Moana"— was built by a Captain Miles in the 1800's, who was a seafarer involved in the shipping industry. The construction was a pre-fabrication where portions were built in Hobart, then shipped to Strahan to... More
