I think there's a lot to like about this place. The friendliness of the owner has been mentioned previously. It's in a great spot with a nice view. A short walk to the cafes and shops of Stanley in one direction and a couple of restaurants and the wharf in the other direction. What we didn't like were really small... More

My wife and I stayed at the Bayview for two nights. We were made to feel very welcome right from the start by Sandy. Our ensuite room facing the bay was on the ground floor and we loved it. It had everything we needed and the view from the room was of the bay and down to the harbour. An... More

Wanted to stay near The Nut so we could hike up early the next morning - this place is directly below the cliffs - and old hotel that is being redone by a young couple. The owner could not have been nicer, and was very enthusiastic about her hotel and her town. We were given an upstairs room with a... More

We drove into Stanley initially only going to stay for one night, but we just had to stay two. Our first night was at the Bay View Guesthouse, an absolute great place to stay in Stanley, tucked under the "Nut" with spectacular views, the room had everything you need with breakfast all in the room for the morning. Owners are... More

Very friendly, local owner, Sandy made us feel welcome and is a real asset to her business. We enjoyed our stay for two nights very much. The room (1) was tastefully decorated and had everything we needed. A couple of chairs would probably be helpful as one has to move the couch around to watch the TV but that was... More

This was a place we chose from the net. What a find great. Hosts who we found most friendly and very knowledgeable of the local area and venues to eat. We did eat at the crayfish restaurant the first night and very disappointed and took their advise the second night eating at Touchwood which was very good

We really enjoyed staying here just recently, and Sandy and Stuart made us feel very welcome. The rooms are all different, and so tastefully decorated and spotless, plus cosy and comfortable. We liked it so much, we decided to stay 2 nights instead of the one. In all all, a very pleasant experience in both meeting Sandy & Stuart, and... More

Stanley is always on my tour map when in Tasmania as it’s a base for visiting relatives. And the Bay View Guesthouse is always the choice of a home away from home! I’ve stayed in all four rooms, some more than once, and have never been disappointed. They have been nicely decorated, the beds are comfortable and the kitchen area... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Built in 1949 The Bayview has had a colourful history, From it's humble days as a pub in the early 1970's it was left striped and abandoned almost on the verge of being demolished over the next 15 years it underwent change and renovation into the building she is today..Do not judge a book by it's cover, Her bold colour assures the Bayview never blends into the background, she stands proud and refuses to be missed, but her interior is undergoing some major cosmetic updating to reflect the history of the building and incorporate some modern creature comforts. Sitting on 3/4 acre of land the Bayview boasts views from every angle and window, private courtyards verandah's, private balcony's and a wandering garden full of trees, flowers and wild life, so sit back with a hot cuppa, or a glass of wine while the kids play, we are all about family and relaxing and enjoying everything the Bayview and Stanley has to offer! ... more   less
