Very well set up. We spent two nights at this hidden gem of a place. Beautiful little cabins, very well appointed with all the creature comforts you could want. Ideal location with glorious views and direct access to the beach and walking tracks in the area. The hostess made us feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend this to locals and... More

A great experience, great unobtrusive hosts, cabins are as per advertised, very relaxing, a short drive to Stanley for cafes and the excellent pub. 3 days, not enough. Sun rises where wonderful, if you could drag yourself out of the comfy bed. Would recommend.

Hi 519scottc, Thank you for your review. Glad you had a relaxing time and enjoyed the accommodation and the town of Stanley. The sunsets here are even better than the sunrises. We look forward to you staying again, hopefully for longer next time. Regards Janette. More

An amazing place to stay. Well appointed, relaxing & peaceful. Everything we needed was at hand & the bed was warm & comfortable. A great balance between luxury & Eco sustainability. Beach access a few steps away only. Would definitely stay again.

Hi Melinda K, Thank you for your review. We think it is an amazing place too, after nearly 40 years living here and we are delighted that you found everything to your liking. We have tried to construct the cabins in an ecologically sensitive way, without going overboard, combined with innovation and a touch of luxury. Owning the beachfront to... More

A perfect place to relax and unwind. The cabins are very comfortable and are tastefully and thoughtfully appointed. They are great for self catering and are set in a wonderful natural setting. It is relaxing being so close to an unspoilt beach and hearing the abundance of wildlife and cows nearby. No matter what the weather this is a beautiful... More

Hi Maria B, Thank you for completing a review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay in one of our comfortable self-catering cabins, set in a peaceful and relaxing environment. The beach is pristine and gives a feeling of remoteness; the bird life is plentiful and diverse. Winter time on the seashore can be warmer than many inland areas... More

We stayed for a week and enjoyed every moment. It is awe-inspiring to watch the bird life and the coming and going of the ocean. We walked on the beach each day and each night before tucking into bed. The farm property is so well maintained and it was fantastic to walk around the paddocks and be part of the... More

Hi Tom G, Thank you for your lovely review; written from the heart. It takes a special person to appreciate the wonders of nature and the changing moods of the ocean, experienced here. It is a pleasure to share this precious environment with the birds and animals who live here; they have their homes in the specially created shelter belts,... More

The beachside retreat is haven from the noise of the world. Stunning vista out over west inlet and a quirky warm retreat to view it from. Comfortable bed, a round window complete with window seat, kitchen facilities and a deck with a view over the west inlet. Also a shared laundry room with washer, dryer & ironing board. Hospitable host... More

Hi Cebbd, Thank you for your review. Beachside Retreat is indeed a 'haven from the noise of the world', with its pressures of life. We offer a peaceful and tranquil retreat, only broken by the songs of the birds and the sounds of the waves. The comfortable and warm cabins are self-contained and offer seclusion to guests, wanting to get... More

Cosy cabin accomodation just a two minute walk to the beach. Quiet spot, comfy bed, good heater. Great for exploring the Stanley region. It was cute driving in to see a wallaby and some rabbits all sharing the grass. The only down side is to remember that the ramp up and down from the cabin is very slippery when wet.

Hi Heritage123, Thank you for your review. All the cabins are warm and cosy, due to the timber construction and very efficient gas heaters; just right for a winter retreat. We are very central to Stanley, being halfway along the peninsula and convenient to Smithton and the Tarkine beyond. Unfortunately you arrived immediately following an enormous rainstorm, after a protracted... More

We had three happy days at Beachside Retreat! The cottages are located on a private beach which gave us wonderful, peaceful views. The cottage was very clean and well equipped if you want to self-cater which we did one night. We took the owners advice and ate at Xanders the other night. As the weather was a little damp, we... All the cabins/lodges are well-equipped to enable guests to self-cater, if they wish, and the heating ensures a lovely and warm ambience during the cooler weather, together with the sunny aspect which captures the all-day sun. Nature abounds here with the wonderful birdlife, wildlife and changing... More

The calming, contemporary style of the "Oystercatcher" cabin sat comfortably in its natural environment. With windows oriented to catch the sun, a deck to take in the view of the deserted sand dunes and beach, and cosy heating for cool evenings, "Oystercatcher" was every bit the peaceful couples retreat that we were looking for. No twee decor or chintzy accessories... More

Hi JandBSydney, Thank you for your review. I am sorry it has taken so long for me to respond; things have finally slowed down here. This is a 'retreat' in the true sense of the word; a deserted and secluded beach, which goes on for ever, plenty of wildlife and bird life to observe and identify, and hardly another soul... More

Hi Conblue, Thank you for staying three nights in Sea Eagle, our most luxurious lodge. The covered barbecue area makes dining outside a pleasure even on the windiest days, for which Stanley is renowned.
