This is a true blue budget hotel. The room is ok in size, the bedding and linen also fine. The kitchenette is right next to the bathroom and has just enough space for making a toast or boiling a cup of water. There is a mini bar fridge which si convenient. The kitchenette is stocked with tea, coffee and milk... More

The owner couldn't do enough.. lovely lady..even offered to drop us off in town centre for a meal as we were on motor bikes... Rooms are very neat and tidy ,well stocked with tea coffee and biscuits.. She came and collected our complimentary breakfast order and returned later with it set out nicely on a tray... We found the Anchor Wheel to be a very comfortable place to stay when in St Helens. The room was very neat and tidy, and the bed was very comfortable. For the price, we thought it was a bargain. Don't expect a high end hotel though...that's not what you payed for. The Restaurant wasn't open, so I can't comment on... More

This motel is a not expensive, it's comfortable and clean in a quiet location, with a heater, electric blanket, fridge, toaster kettle, microwave, and complementary biscuits. Breakfast is available for just another $5. Not far from town in a quiet location. Unfortunately the Restaurant is closed, but there are others are not far in town. Owners are very friendly.

Our family was very happy with the Anchor Wheel. We had a friendly welcome from the hosts and the family unit we stayed in was clean and roomy. The shower was hot with good pressure and the beds were very comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

This is definitely a relic from the past, but in a good way. Service is friendly, fresh towels and toiletries, and even complimentary biscuits supplied. Don't expect luxury, but then you're not paying for that either. Nice touch was the bucket of water and rag placed outside your room in the morning after a very cold night (to help you... More

Don't judge a book by its cover. This motel is comfortable and clean. Owners are very friendly. Rooms are warm with heater and electric blanket. We stayed one night, but could have stayed longer if our itinerary allowed it. Bed was comfortable. Room has all facilities you need. Not far from town in a quiet location. Restaurant is closed, but... More

Stayed here for 1 night on our way home, lucky to get a unit as it was a long weekend. Price was good, $80 + $5 for breakfast. It does need a face lift, the owners are getting on but very friendly. Bed was comfortable, the TV was the size of a computer screen. Pity the restaurant is no longer... More

Some will no doubt complain there's no aircon, no restaurant, and the style is reminiscent of a motel from No Country for Old Men. But do you stay in St Helens for the trappings of modern life?? The place is very clean. The beds are comfortable. The price is very reasonable. The hosts are very nice. I'll be back. If... More

Stayed here on a family trip round Tassie. The rooms are fairly basic but ours was large and scrupulously clean with very fresh linen and bed sheets, for the price you honestly cannot fault it. Loved the story of the hosts boat trip to NZ. Easy walk into town.
