Don't judge a book by its cover. This motel is comfortable and clean. Owners are very friendly. Rooms are warm with heater and electric blanket. We stayed one night, but could have stayed longer if our itinerary allowed it. Bed was comfortable. Room has all facilities you need. Not far from town in a quiet location. Restaurant is closed, but... More

Stayed here for 1 night on our way home, lucky to get a unit as it was a long weekend. Price was good, $80 + $5 for breakfast. It does need a face lift, the owners are getting on but very friendly. Bed was comfortable, the TV was the size of a computer screen. Pity the restaurant is no longer... More

Some will no doubt complain there's no aircon, no restaurant, and the style is reminiscent of a motel from No Country for Old Men. But do you stay in St Helens for the trappings of modern life?? The place is very clean. The beds are comfortable. The price is very reasonable. The hosts are very nice. I'll be back. If... More

Stayed here on a family trip round Tassie. The rooms are fairly basic but ours was large and scrupulously clean with very fresh linen and bed sheets, for the price you honestly cannot fault it. Loved the story of the hosts boat trip to NZ. Easy walk into town.

Loved the blue china in the cupboard and the breakfast basket. Lady at reception very helpful when asked where to have dinner. Very clean and great hot shower. Great value for money at $80 for bed and breakfast.

My wife and I together with a friend stayed a night in this comfy motel , excellent to have continental style breakfast in the room delivered, and a very reasonable price. Would stay again on another trip, value for money.

I thoroughly enjoyed my brief stay at Anchor Wheel. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Thought I looked cold when I booked in so visited my room to ensure the electric blanket was on and that the heater was heating my room. Loved the convenience of the breakfast basket delivered the night before. Nice china in the cupboard too - no... More

We arrived St.Helen at 8:30pm and the street was dark with nothing awakened and there is no mobile signal at all. Try to find a place to stay but all receptions were closed. Luckily we found this motel, the room is clean with heater and electric blanket. Very reasonable price

For $80 a night including a basic continental breakfast, we highly recommend this traditional style motor-inn for the road trip style traveller - no bells and whistles, but great value for a clean and comfy nights sleep!
