This place is outstanding and we loved it. However I challenge their printed claim that they serve the 'world's best vanilla slice'. It was good, but I would give it an 8 out of 10. Being of scientific mind I wonder how they concluded that they serve the world's best vanilla slice. Did they enter a recognised world championship and... More

OH MY GOODNESS. First time to ever have it. We so enjoyed the vanilla slice. It was so thick and smooth. Also we wanted croissants for breakfast the next day & they told us they were making them in the am and when they opened we were there first thing and they were still pretty warm and so delicious. We... More

We stopped here on our way to Lauceston. Ross is a pretty historic town and the bakery sounded promising. It was a rainy day so maybe that coloured our feelings but sitting inside the cramped 'olde worlde' cafe did not impress us. The breakfast was limited in scope and unsubtle. The jams and butter provided with the thick toast were... More

The Scallop pie is a must try and the Vanilla slices definitely does not disappoint! Must try if you're around the area and travelling about in Tassie. Even took some additional pies for the road! ... ....

The rooms are a slice of yesteryear, beds very comfortable. The sitting room offers port and sherry by the fire. Pastries on arrival, supper and on departure. Great country breakfast. Happy and welcoming staff with lots of local and historical knowledge

This bakery is better known to female Japanese anime fans than to local Australians. There is a wood fired oven where the bread is made - yum yum, and there are fantastic pies and slices too. There is a film about Kiki the Witch, "Kiki's Home Delivery Service" in which there is such a bakery. For some reason young Japanese... More

Great place for a stop between Hobart and Launceston. Excellent curry scallop pies. Beautiful street scape to stop and enjoy after grabbing a snack. A short walk from the bakery to the famous bridge. Many good photo opportunities.

We passed through Ross and had booked for one night stay, we were met by the most friendly lady in the bakery, she was so lovely. We stayed in kirstys cottage across the road. It was fantastic, cosy warm and homely. The breakfast was amazing. The bakery is wonderful, and we were lucky to see the wood oven in action.... More
