My husband, Bruce, booked us in for one night's stay here, as a surprise to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. I was not disappointed! The restaurant was first class and the staff made us feel like celebrities. The ambiance of the restaurant was fantastic with it's Tudor beams and decor. I ordered the stuffed chicken breast with vegetables and the... More

We stayed in the self contained villa units. The entire establishment was opened in the 1980s and it appeared that our villa had not ever been refurbished since that time! A massive refurb is needed of the villas - or at least the one that we stayed in. Good location near the water. The restaurant served nice food and was... More

The Fox and Hounds Inn is a mid-range lodging convenient to the Historic site. The room was adequate--very clean and roomy. The lodge is in need of serious updating, but this is probably due to the business being for sale for the owners per the flyers around the inn. We were on the ground floor. One concern was the 1.5"... More

When you book a hotel, the main thing you want is comfy beds. The beds at this motel were quite soft and not very comfortable-not something you'd expect when you'd paid a decent price to stay there. This place is very quaint and the service from the staff was quite good, we ate in the bistro as well.

Situated just a couple of kilometers from the Port Arthur historical site, we found that it was a good location from which to visit the site and places like the tesselated pavement, Nubello, the Blowhole and Tasmania Arch. Our room was clean and comfortable and on a very hot afternoon, was surprisingly cool. The staff were helpful and polite.

Great place to stay after Port Arthur viewing all day and the ghost tour that night! Convenient location and no drama to fit six of us in! There was a stuffy smell when we first arrived but we opened Windows and the smell disappeared (maybe this could have been done by staff prior to our arrival?). I would stay here... More

Unclean, old and disgusting all around!! Was worst place I've ever been to and I'd never go there ever again.. So dirty and was well in need for a refurbishment!! Shouldn't have even paid for it it was that bad. Breakfast was you getting bread at night and taking it back to the room yourself for the morning.. Ha! What... More

The best you can say about this place is that it doesn't pretend to be anything other than a 1970'S hotel/restaurant experience. The rooms are old and damp. The place is gently rotting away. My wife narrowly missed injury when the outdoor furniture collapsed beneath her. The food is a throwback to another time. The only thing missing was Basil... More

Stayed one night at The Fox and Hounds Inn after being at Port Arthur all day. We stayed in Room 10 which overlooked the Bay - nice. The hotel rooms aren't anything special for a 3 1/2 Star nor were the less than their rating either. The bed was a bit hard, but I didn't wake up sore. They've got... More

Old and worn out. Pub is an old mock Tudor not to bad. Motel rooms are abysmal. Needs complete refurbishment. Single beds not fit for children. Bathroom floor lumpy and disgusting black and white tiles with holes. Don't go unless your desperate.
