Pros: lovely operators. Service impeccable. Breakfast is delish and served in a comfortable dining setting downstairs at your preferred time. Little extras, port, brandy, ground coffee, dvds etc. Right on the esplanade across from the giant penguin, walking distance from markets and takeaway food, foxtel for the kids. Cons: Sea breeze is your fan/aircon in the warmer months. Rooms are... More

In such a charming beachside town you might be surprised to discover a shining gem like the Madsen. We indulged ourselves with the 5 star room with balcony and indulgently deep spa bath. An abundance of beverage options including the Nespresso machine were available along with the options of wine, beer, spirits and complimentary sherry or port in the downstairs guest... More

Stayed one night. Room SO spacious, pristine and beds divine. Breakfast yum and staff friendly and helpful. Bit of street noise early morning but the view of the sea more than made up for that and with children who are early risers was not an issue at all!

An indulgent night away by the ocean is what we were after and that is what we got. All the rooms look lovely but I must say the penthouse with the balcony views of the ocean is by far the best! Definitley worth the extra $$. Amanda was a wonderful host, nothing was too much bother, showed us to our... More

We stayed for one night in room 6 while on a brief trip to the NW. The Madsen is a lovely boutique B&B Our room was huge, light and bright, spotlessly clean, extremely well appointed, quiet and tasteful. The breakfast was delicious and generous. The plunger coffee and complimentary port is welcome and of course the staff were friendly and... More

A beautifully refurbished old building that's made the most of its heritage combined with a fantastic modern feel. We had an exec spa room. Lovely view to ocean and great space. All good amenities and great spa bath. Friendly staff, generous culture and nice breakfast (included). The only annoying feature was the door security system to the room. Overly sensitive... More

Beautifully restored bank overlooking Bass Strait. Felt like mediterranen hotel. Gourmet breakfast, rooms well appointed. Gorgeous retro shops and town. Highly recommend if passing through Penguin Tasmania

we stayed 2 nights. On our arrival we were warmly greeted and given all the information necessary for our stay. Our room was beautifully decorated in the latest modern decor. But most importantly it was so wonderfully clean. It also had a spa bath. I loved the state of the art locking system to our room. Free DVD hire, free... More
