We stayed there for the NYE...Nice small hotel on the river. The rooms are cute, the hotel of course close at 9, but at least they leave you wine, coffe, water, tea, beer, snacks in the living room area. So if you need something you can help yourself. They give the feeling of a house with more guests. The dinner... More

Dear Jaquelinne We are delighted that you 'will return'. We would love to share more of our beautiful Derwent Valley with you next time. We are glad you enjoyed the sense of abundance! Woodbridge was one of the first grand homes in Tasmania, and the early families established a reputation for generosity and hospitality. As an hotel, Woodbridge continues that... More

We spent 7 days at WoodBridge on the Derwent and we encountered a very small luxury hotel of the world. But still we did not regret one moment! The food was great! We enjoyed every chocolate fondant we got, thanks alot John! In the evenings we would not retire to the rooms to watch a movie but would retire to... More

Dear Limolemming We are so glad that you enjoyed all your amazing experiences while you stayed with us. We were in awe of you all, as we were exhausted just thinking about your expeditions in Tasmania. We have since seen some of the photos - fabulous! Also I am so glad that you enjoyed the chocolate fondants - we are... More

Spent one night in this marvellous place. This hotel is a must for anyone who visits Tasmania and who wants to experience a breathtakingly beautiful view, an excellent service which could better be expressed as a warm taking care of, a famous dinner in an absolutely gorgeous little restaurant. On top of all the situation of the Woodbridge on Derwent... More

Dear Eva-Stina G We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay, and we certainly hope that you can get back before you return to France. And yes, please do stay longer next time. We are delighted that you felt 'taken care of', as everyone on our staff do appredicate our guests and express that by showing genuine care and... More

The focus of our long weekend was the agrarian experience. The Woodbridge location was ideal for this and the Woodbridge website was most enticing. On arrival, the place was much smaller than envisaged. A welcoming cup of tea and tour of the main house was good. Significant rising damp in the lower quarters, disappointing dinners and the sound of traffic... More

Dear Leonie L Yes, Woodbridge is a VERY Small Luxury Hotel indeed. An 1825 riverfront mansion, she has 39 rooms, but accommodates a maximum 16 persons in only 8 rooms and suites. The old building techniques evident in Woodbridge are very interesting, and part of what makes this Heritage Listed property a unique hotel. They did not use damp courses... More

Our three day stay at Woodbridge was magical, from the warm and friendly service and amazing food by Liam and Fiona, to the personalised service, well informed and personable owner and magnificantly restored house. The setting is peaceful and central to lovely day trips and attractions. A venue that we will definately be revisiting.

My wife and I booked Woodbridge on the Derwent for our wedding night and will be forever grateful that we did. John & Laurelle were kind enough to allow me to check in early so my groomsmen and I could get ready, enjoy a beer to calm the nerves, then wander the stunning garden by the river before 'game time'.... Liked: Plush bathrobes. Historic building, nicely restored. Laundry room with a washer and dryer available at no extra charge for those of us on long trips. What a delight! The queen size bed was comfortable. Heated mirror in the bathroom. The flowers in large beds slanting down towards the river were awesome. Intelligent and pleasant owner who spoke with us... More

Dear MJH161 Yes, we agree that having a comprehensive laundry for guest use is such a treat - we have tried to incorporate into Woodbridge other things that have made travel easier for us, like complimentary soft drinks, tea and coffee, unlimited free wifi, free parking, the true hospitality of complimentary fruit and nut and biscuits and port & sherry... My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in the Tower Room (which had it's own private staircase) and upon check-in we were given a tour of the beautifully restored 1825-built property. The views over the river are lovely and there is a small cluster of ducks (and a platypus!) that congregate on the river bank beside the garden.... More

Dear Jen711 Yes, I never tire of looking out over the river, so relaxing, and made even more so by the ducks preening themselves. I am so glad that you had such fabulous weather for kayaking (it turned cool the day after you left), and John took a great photo of you paddling if you would like a copy. Thank... More

Where to start? We have been fortunate to have travelled the world and indulge in the opportunity to stay in some magnificent hotels both large and small. When we booked our reservation my husband informed Woodbridge of two very special occasions our anniversary and my birthday. Their response thanked us for entrusting such a special occasion to them. First there... More

We travelled to Tassie on our honeymoon to visit my wife's childhood town and I didn't imagine that the place could be so beautiful, with probably the best view in Australia being right on the Derwent river (we went in Autumn when the leaves were like a multi-coloured sunset all day!). We loved the intimate dining pavilion… A real VIP... More
