We travelled to Tassie on our honeymoon to visit my wife's childhood town and I didn't imagine that the place could be so beautiful, with probably the best view in Australia being right on the Derwent river (we went in Autumn when the leaves were like a multi-coloured sunset all day!). We loved the intimate dining pavilion… A real VIP... More

My fiancé and I had the pleasure of staying at Woodbridge on the Derwent during our recent holiday to Tasmania. Wow, what a brilliant place to stay! John and Laurelle along with their staff were incredibly helpful and ensured that our every need was met. Their thorough knowledge of the local area and their assistance with organising and booking tours... More

Dear 0Jess0 I am delighted that you had such a wonderful time at Woodbridge and glad that we were able to put together all the activities that you wanted to do. There are so many wonderful things to do in our valley, aren't there! Yes, kayaking on the river is just lovely! At the moment we have clear warm days,... More

It's a hard one to review because staff enthusiasm was high but it missed at so many levels. Perhaps I should've been wary when my first email enquiry went unanswered for 3 days. The problem lies in the value proposition. At Woodbridge prices you expect the little things to be right. So apart from tardy email responses a few little... More

Dear Peter d Thank you for your many compliments - I am delighted that 'overall (Woodbridge) is a lovely place', that dinner was 'first rate - a seriously good meal', and that our staff were enthusiastic in their service. You are correct that it is the little things that count, and our staff try to show great care and attention... More

We enjoyed our three days at Woodbridge enormously. The staff was consistently kind and helpful, going out of their way to ensure our comfort. We had minor car problems that John helped us solve, and he was also helpful in planning excursions. The setting on the river is beautiful, the meals very good (delicious soups!) and we would definitely return.... More

Dear Patwebster We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us, and would be delighted if you were to return. Montreal is only a few meals and movies away ! Our staff certainly do make every effort to ensure our guests' comfort, and it means a lot to them when this is recognised. One of our young trainees... More

Nice hotel and friendly staff but extremely overpriced. For $650 per night we expected a lot more. The room was fine but nothing special, TV didn't work, no bath. The booking promised daily afternoon cream tea and a visit to the wine cellar neither of which were provided. Dinner was good but a very poor wine selection. Breakfast was described... More

Dear Clarinshrek I am so glad that you liked Woodbridge and appreciated our friendly staff, and that you enjoyed the dinners. Our wine list is small but select, and we try to source fabulous wines and beers, especially Tasmanian beverages, that are not common to every other wine list in the land. My staff tell me that you were impressed... More

We stayed for 3 nights at this beautifully restored hotel. John and Laurelle were very friendly and helpful, the food was superb! The TV wouldn't work in the Lounge but it was of no concern as there was so much else to do. This is a brilliant place to stay when visiting MONA, Mt Filed and the nearby midlands.

Dear Moira W Oh I know what you mean about the TV in the lounge. I am 'tech- challenged' and I can never work out which button to push, made worse by the fact that John and the younger staff find it all so easy! You will be pleased to know that a new TV system will be installed next... More

We stayed three nights at Woodbridge on the Derwent. The hosts were so welcoming, and full of helpful advice about the area. On our first evening we had dinner there. The food was beautiful, and sitting at the window we had a gorgeous view of the river. It was very romantic, especially since we were there on our wedding anniversary.... More

Dear ElizabethS2 How wonderful that you were able to find your ancestor's gravesite, and delighted that we wer able to help. Being a descendant of the First Fleeters is such a buzz - Makes you 'family'! New Norfolk is such a significant centre for early Tasmanian and Australian history - it is not well known that our town pre-dates Port... More
