A beautifully laid out estate that was last lived in 19 years ago and appears to be struggling for maintenance funding. We were charged $26 to walk around the estate ($37) for a guided tour that included seeing inside the house. The gardens were in a state of disrepair in our view and we were told after paying the money... More

A Friendly, interesting and knowledgable guides showed us around this amazing home. The homestead is so very much in tact and as it always was. The grounds and buildings are fascinating and the whole experience worth a couple of hours of wandering, reading and viewing. Our house guide was natural and knowledgeable and passionate about the story and history of... More

We arrived after hours, and the directions to our accomodation was clear. We were delightfully surprised with heritage listed accomodation with everything we needed for a most comfortable stay. You do need to bring your food and drinks, as there is no shop close by, though the cafe is open during the day. The staff were most helpful and friendly... More

It was fascinating to see into every day life of a family whose history carries across the history of Tasmania and who played such an important role in the shaping of Tassie. It tied in all the pieces of history. I strongly recommend doing the tour so you see inside the house, as this brings the past to life.

From around 1817, Woolmers Estate was continuously farmed by six generations of the Archer family in Tasmania. The interior of Woolmer’s Homestead is by guided tour only; very dark in the rooms and the guided tour is done by torchlight in most of the rooms. The Estate remains as it was after the passing of the last heir in 1994,... More

Woolmers Estate is a must visit historic site, and to stay in one of the cottages is a must when visiting the area. The cottage is so cosy with it's comfortable sitting room that has a fire place ready to light. Good size kitchen and bathroom which has a washing machine and dryer, and the bedroom is upstairs. Really comfortable... More

Spent a couple of hours wandering around and took the tour to see the inside of the house. If you are a photographer the outside is a wonderful chance to get some shots but no cameras inside allowed. Terrific guide , happy to answer questions and has some great stories. The garden is beautiful and the story of The Archer... More

Quaint cottage, log fire with cosy sitting room. Bathroom has a washing machine/dryer. Estate is fantastic. If you are a fishing nut it is right on the banks of the Maquarie river. The port decanter and glasses was a very welcome touch.

This estate is in a picturesque part of northern Tasmania. And, Brickendon (another World Heritage site) is just down the road. It is one of the most complete 19C estates that were developed using convict labour. I would highly recommend a tour of the house as this is the only opportunity you have of seeing the interior of the house.... More
