I am a backpacker and I have stayed in so many YHAs and did not consider them as poor but this one was! There was basically no one paying attention to the conditions of communal areas during the day. There were few toilets and showers for too many people and the living room did not have enough space at all.... More

This seems to be the only budget / backpacker place in Coles bay. It's located on a holiday park, and the overall feel was soulless. Our room was clean, though the quilt had some pretty disgusting looking stains, and it was small and basic. The kitchen / lounge area was clean, but quite poorly equipped. There was a wood fire,... Our experience at Coles Bay YHA was generally positive. There was available parking, the toilets were clean and well-maintained. The same could be said for the kitchen which was also very spacious. The staff were quite friendly too. In terms of its location, it is near to the kayaking vendor, the beach, a grocery store and a tavern/restaurant. It is... More

We recently stayed here in one of the cabins, a two bedroom, spacious cabin. The living/dining area was very big, plenty of space for the kids to play. Great supply of cooking utensils and the kids loved the play area. The only thing I would say would be the Queen bed was a little uncomfortable. Overall a fantastic location, great... More

Great location, right near the beach in Coles Bay (although no views from the windows, boo!). Nice spacious kitchen and 2 separate lounge/dining areas. Very clean. Unlike the previous reviewer I found the staff very friendly and helpful, happily storing my backpack for me while I did the 2-day Freycinet peninsula walk (highly recommended).

The hostel is the only one in coles bay. It s located very close to a beautiful beach ( try to do the kayak tour, I missed that one..) The hostel has all normal facilities. It is ok, relatively clean and has a kitchen and showers. price is ok too if you stay in a dorm. The staff however doesn... More

First tasmanian stop after we landed from the Spirit of Tasmania vessel. The Freycinet NP is an amazing place, unfortunately we were too tired for the walk to admire the famous Wineglass bay, claimed to be one of the best beaches worldwide (according to the pictures on the web I agree with this). So we recovered on the beach close... More

Coles Bay is a fairly remote spot. The Caravan Park and units are behind the small grocery shop, take away and pub and they serve the whole community of about 200. The locals are very friendly and most helpful. A lot of people only stay a night and do the walk up to the lookout over Wineglass Bay which is... More

We stayed in a chalet in this Youth Hostel/Caravan Park in November 2010. The chalet was claen and well presented with adequate cooking facilities, fridge and TV. There is a very nice covered outdoor eating area adjacent to the car-space. We stayed for 3 days and found no fault with this accomodation. It is not high luxury but is very... More

No A/C but close to the grocery store (a small one for the small town) and a few restaurants. The kitchen was a decent size but the common area was not. It was clean if not a posh hostel and good for the budget traveller.
