Freycinet itself is pretty and the walk to Wineglass Bay is hard to beat if you are reasonably fit. Cost was not a problem for us but Freycinet Lodge, while beautifully located, is very expensive for the dated decor and basic facilities. The food in the bistro was deplorable, the food in the restaurant was hilarious...how to turn fresh Tasmanian... More

The lodge is in a beautiful location which is hard to fault, but I have to agree very much overpriced for what you get. We stayed in an Oyster Bay cabin at $450 a night and it was disappointing. The rooms were old and tired, particularly the bathroom and the kitchen. We had no view to speak of from the... More

Was not at all happy that this company took the total price of our two night stay from my credit card 10 days before we even arrived. They do not like to be challenged either. " Airlines do it " was the reply I got when I questioned the practise. No mini bar tariff in room, no safe operating instructions,... More

The lodge is extremely expensive and undoubtedly poor value for money. That said, we did enjoy the trip. The cabin we stayed in was recently updated and had a view, which was nice – it was perfectly fine, but we have stayed in presidential suites across Asia with kitchens and private pools for roughly the same price! We enjoyed the... More

Stayed in a Premium Cabin (No. 30) which was expensive but was beautifully fitted out. From the patio we had a beautiful view out over Coles Bay and Richardsons Beach. The hedge in front of the patio/cabin provides privacy but you will need to sit on the wide railing to appreciate the view whilst sitting. It was a nice place... More

The Lodge is in a great location with stunning water views over the bay. Our room was nestled in the bush with wildlife roaming around. We actually had a paddy melon outside our room. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated, staff fantastic and very helpful. We didn't try the restaurant as it looked a bit expensive so ate next... More

My wife and I eat out regularly, last night being Australia day and staying at Coles Bay (privately) we booked for dinner at Freycinet Lodge in the main a la carte restaurant. I find it difficult to describe my the enjoyment of three very special courses. Entree was the most delightfull goats cheese souffle which suprised me. My main course... More

Stayed in an Oyster Bay Room, $475 p/night. eco themed villa's, set amongst the native vegetation, an abundance of wildlife and stunning views. Friendly service. Restaurant was terrible, average food the bistro (Richardson's) was far better quality and cheaper. We ate at "The Edge Restaurant" on our second night which was far better. Not many accommodation choices in this area.... More

Our family of four stayed in an Oyster Bay cabin for two nights. The cabin was clean and comfortable and nicely decorated. The bathroom however is in need of a refurb. The cabin was very dark, even in mid summer. At over $600AUD/night I was expecting better. The bistro was good value for money but the lodge restaurant was overpriced... More

We stayed in a Wineglass Deluxe Cabin and the view across the bay from bedroom, balcony and bathroom was stunning. The Cabin was well equipped, large and well maintained. Great welcome at reception from Bruce giving us plenty of useful information. Ate two nights in the restaurant and meals were very good as was the service. Saw plenty of wildlife... More
