We needed a place to accommodate a family of six and found this gem and were fortunate enough to be able to book in for a night at Mrs Philpotts. The house is spacious with good size bedrooms, bathroom and living areas. The kitchen, dining and lounge areas provide everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The location is great... More

Thank-you for your lovely review. It is always a pleasure when we can accommodate families so that they are comfortable and well provided for. Next time you come to Burnie we will have 2 bathrooms in Mrs Philpotts which will hopefully give you even more convenience and space. Look forward to seeing you and your family again in the future.... More

We had stayed here the first time about 13 years ago. And it was still just as lovely this time. All the things that you would expect from a historic B&B. Fully DIY breakfast provisions provided. We had our 18month old with us as well which was fine - more than enough room for a portacot in the 2nd bedroom... More

The accommodation was comfortable and clean, everything and we mean everything was supplied, even the breakfast supplied was magnificent and plenty of it. The Duck House accm has 3 Federation houses/cottages. This time we stayed in Duck House. We felt we had gone back in time. So many period pieces that make this place so charming. We loved the quirky collection of ducks through out the cottage. Very comfy beds. We finished our stay with a very hearty breakfast from the supplies provided.

My husband and I recently enjoyed three nights in Burnie at the Duck House. The house is very charming and Lynne is a great host, giving us a thorough introduction to the property and good advice on restaurants. The house is very well equipped with a great washing machine and well equipped kitchen. The communal garden was also appreciated. The... More

In September 2014 we made our first visit to Burnie, staying overnight in Mrs Philpotts, a delightful cottage (part of the Duck House accommodation). We were travelling with our daughter and Max the groodle (golden retriever crossed with a poodle). From the first moment we stepped into Mrs Philpotts cottage we felt at home. The cottage is beautifully furnished and... More

This place is our saviour on the occasional family visits to Burnie. Each house is an individual delight with period decoration and furnishings. This trip we stayed in the Duck House and enjoyed cooking meals with fresh produce from the garden. Lyn and Titch are helpful and friendly and obviously love their houses. Don't stay anywhere else in Burnie.
