Every time I visit this place I end up having a lovely weekend. The place is old, full of history and could do with a few million dollars being spent on it. Stay here because it's a fantastic hotel with lovely staff, but expect it to be a bit tired. It's all part of the charm. It's also very reasonably... More

Apparently new owners..I've stayed here several times in the last few years and whilst not the Ritz the food was good and the accom was clean and made for good night sleep. What a comedy of errors last night...dismal meals for a pretty penny...rude and if not disinterested staff. No lighting in the courtyard. No cutlery on the restaurant. No... More

Booked this hotel about a month before travelling to Aus. Internet info looked good and a report in a book looked good so one night was booked. Very tired that was a fire hazard - room had an electrical cable stapled to floor between two doors, large cardboard boxes with old clothes stored on main hallway - it was very... More

Our group came here after hearing about what is reputedly Australia's oldest flushing toilet, so that equated to around 10 seconds of novelty. The rest of the experience was fairly sub-par. Our food was pretty bloody average and the service even worse. The pub was once a grand old hotel and still retains some of the charm of a bygone... More

This was probably formerly a grand place. It has atmosphere still, could be cleaner - but it is lovely. Food is basic, rooms ok, and you can find a quiet one - ie 21, where we stayed. Good selection of beers in the bar. Would like to go there again.

Went for lunch today ordered beef burger which took over 40 mins to arrive. When received noticed the beef pattie was not on the burger? Returned to kitchen and the young cook said oh it's still on the bench. Then received my burger again and the pattie was burnt cold and overlooked. Chips were cold and the bacon looked like... More

What a fabulous weekend! Thank you to all the friendly staff who made us feel so welcome during our recent weekend stay to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary. The artic temperatures were wonderfully overcome by the presence of roaring fireplaces, in-room heating & a thick fluffy doona. There was a booking error and we were not expected to arrive until... when I arrived I feel in love with the heritage building, the warmth, the friendliness and the atmosphere. families were sitting outside, enjoying their meal, music was playing, the fireplace was warming up the place.... I was greeted upon arrival by the staff members and shown to my room, the room was amazing, cozy and the sunshine beaming right in.... More

What a mixed bag!. This wonderful old hotel could be so good, but.............. The first thing I wanted to do was close the doors and start scrubbing.........it is sooooo grotty. There's a curtain on the kitchen door to the dining room that is so filthy it's amazing someone hasn't taken the initiative to take it down and wash it. Breakfast.....well... More

Wasn't that clean , old and tired. Front bar had a good vibe and live music. The party was still going at 3 am, when we wanted to sleep at 10pm. Fair bit of road noise. We waited till 8am for breakfast but obviously the staff were still indisposed. Great party pub but not a great quiet couples place. Baby... More
