We stopped two nights taking advantage of a special 10% off deal with TripAdvisor members. The heritage listed hotel dates back to the Victorian age and they've done a great job keeping the ambience of yesteryear. For the techno-geeks and internet addicts, this place will not be for you unless you're happy to escape such luxuries for a while! We... More

Hi Mark T, Thank you so much for your great review! I am so glad that you appreciated our hotel from an historic point of view. I hope you had time to take yourself on our little self-guided history tour of Caves House. You would be surprised how many guests say they enjoy being without TV and Internet while at... More

Caves House needs a bit of loving here and there but as far as a sneaky autumn getaway with no phone, tv or internet, it was perfect. All fresh white linen and plenty of towels and pillows. Beautiful fire places for cold nights, a well stocked games room and a pool table for a couple's challenge. The restaurant meals were... More

Building run down and old. Casual food options at caves are terrible unless you love greasy deep fried food or soggy sandwiches. Caves are fantastic, heavily regulated for tour and viewing times. Best to plan ahead otherwise can be long wait. Very windy road from Katoomba, not suitable large vehicles.

My husband and I just spent a weekend at Caves House as a mini escape. We had been previously a long time ago. The main reason to visit Jenolan Caves is for the spectacular natural setting, the wonderful show caves and attractive bush walks. Caves House is an old heritage building in need of some renovation, but it is in... More

Hi Oz-Amanda, Thank you for your positive (and understanding) review. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. We are a 3-star, historic hotel, with plans to renovate when money is available. Where are all the rich philanthropists when you need one? But I always say that we are 'brimming with atmosphere', which is true. I hope you had the... More

The Caves are stunning and the guides are so knowledgeable and friendly. Caves House does need some renovation in spots - but there is evidence that work is being carried out progressively. The restaurant menu is a little limited if staying for two or three days...by the time allowance is made for food preferences, there isn't a lot to choose... More

Hi Ruth, Another wonderful review! Glad you enjoyed your stay. It is nice to be away from TV for a couple of days. Did you know that our Mountain Lodge rooms have TVs? We are so sorry about our old lift! It is working again now. Please come back before it breaks down again! More

Great value for money, quality accommodation. Polite approachable staff. Very romantic couples get away, location and scenery is unbeatable. Would recommend to friends, can't wait to return for another visit.

I think a lot more can be done with the restaurant. Beautiful ballroom great location. Caves are stunning. Dinner average but ok. Wine list dissapointing but was informed they are in the process of updating. Breakfast very dissapointing for $25 a head. The accomodation is historical and basic but its lovely and really all you need. Looking forward to going... More

Very nice hotel with so much history. It is very old and undergone renovation but still on the old side. Still I found it comfortable enough to enjoy my stay. The staff were very friendly and made my stay very enjoyable. The manager and reception staff were all nice and friendly. A special thank you to Tina and Robyn for... More

You are paying first class prices for old, tatty rooms with no TV, no wifi. Water pipes are visible through the room, carpet scraps were used to cover a space were some other piece of furnitire used to be. All the furnishings are old, it was like a visit to your grandma's house. And staff wouldn't allow even an hour... More

My husband and two kids stayed one night in Jenolan cottages (cottage 1). The location is magnificent and the kangaroos surrounding the cabin in the morning were wonderful. The cabin itself was not clean enough for my liking however. I expected the cabin to be basic given the price, but basic should not mean unclean. There was mould in between... More
