Staying at Glenella is like stepping into history. The beautiful old property is faithful to it's era, with modern comforts. The guesthouse is a few metres away from the centre of Blackheath, so walking distance to shops and restaurants. The hosts are friendly and welcoming - nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. Hot breakfast... More

We stayed with Margaret and Rowan who were wonderful hosts. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the hospitality was warm and welcoming . Breakfast was a great start to the day. Especially loved the fresh hot cross buns that Judith baked fresh.

Stumbled on this excellent value when arriving in Blackheath without any accommodation. Welcoming owners who showed an interest in our travels and recommended other places to visit during our short stay. Room was pleasant / comfortable and breakfast was exceptional. Thoroughly recommend to others.

My sister and I stayed here for 2 nights. We booked a twin room but there was an error in the booking and we were given a double room. The owners didn't have a spare room but sorted out another bed for the room ASAP. Nothing was too much problem for them. The place has a really nice feel about... More

Your hosts meet you at the door and show you to your room, describing the old house and its facilities --- such a refreshing change from a hotel (small or large). This is why we stayed in a guest house -- and a place away from busy Katoomba. Margaret and Rowan are lovely (new) hosts who are personable and friendly.... More

Glenella, Owner at Glenella Guest House, responded to this review

This is my first response in TripAdvisor, prompted by the many kind words and encouragement given to us at Glenella. We've been fortunate as new owners to have received such great support from our guests and from the community of Blackheath - we do appreciate it all. Christiine, we enjoy having guests like you and it's so good to read... More

The Glenella Guest House was a stop on our week long inn to inn crossing of the Blue Mountains. Relatively new owners are transforming a previously tired historic guest-house into a most charming place to stay.Although the ensuite rooms are small they are tidy and well appointed. The public spaces are wonderful. Location was perfect...only one block from the Central... More

We have visited the Blue Mountains on 11/2 travelling by car from Sydney. We choose Glenella Lodge as it is located on an heritage house and based on the advice of Lonely Planet. We were very lucky as the lodge exceeded our expectations. The location, the decor and the patio are lovely and the house maintains the old features, for... More

Rowen and Margaret were very friendly, informal and relaxed. Good value rooms with breakfast included. Old world charm, Glenella has a rich history and the new owners are slowly returning it to its former glory. A popular Thai restaurant is housed within the establishment. Glenella is close to shops, restaurants and blue mountain walks/hikes. Would definitely stay again.

The house's renovation is sympathetic to it's heritage and the location is very handy to Blackheath yet peaceful and in leafy surroundings. The breakfast was wonderful and plentiful with cereal and cooked breakfast, finished off with fresh fruit. Everything was relaxed and quiet and we didn't hear the couple next door or others outside. The Thai restaurant in the house... More

We booked a standard room, it was the only one left, but as we were only sleeping one night and were visiting friends we were only going to be sleeping there and not spending any time in the room so the size of the room didn't worry us. The room was very clean, as was the ensuite. Bed was comfortable... More
