The Playhouse Hotel in Barraba is one of those magical unexpected finds that make life worthwhile. This is a high quality hotel, but not expensive, with excellent bedrooms, great food - and, would you believe it, a private cinema. The host Andrew Sharp, an Aussie former London West End actor, is a great conversationalist and he has a choice of... More

The Playhouse used to be a pub and has been fully refurbished into the beautiful accomodation it is today. Amazing artworks, lovely rooms and fantastic service. Even though it is located in the main Street of this beautiful little town we had an undisturbed nights sleep.

What a wonderful venue and a wonderful town. We are the ones who bought a Windmill and had a fantastically unexpectedly enjoyable time. I would send any friend of mine to stay here and know they would be looked after superbly. I've traveled the world (as has the owner) and it shows. To have such hospitality and so generously given... Barraba is a quaint small country town with local arts. a memorial to the Anzacs, bush tracks, gem fossicking and cattle country outside Tamworth. The Playhouse Hotel is an extraordinary surprise. Its heritage combines such style with fabulous artworks including work by our renowned artist Martin Sharp. Cappuccino, freshly squeezed orange juice, homemade ice cream and fresh delicious food set... More

Having eaten at the playhouse many times on business trips - and enjoyed it, I took my family for a long weekend. The rooms are elegantly appointed, clean and everything is of a high quality - beds are very comfortable. Andrew ensures you are welcome and feel at home with his exuberant manner and the home cooked style of food... More

I have been staying at the Playhouse a number of times for business trips. Every time, Andrew and his team have made our visit memorable. I look forward to visiting every time I have to travel to the area. From the moment you start the day with a very varied and delicious menu to fantastic dinners and movies in the... More

This was an accidental last minute find on a trip and what a great place. The guys really run a small hotel well and the rooms and theatre are unique. Its a long drive from home but we will be back. The set dinner was exceptional and a little provincial french and the wine was also very good. As was... More

The playhouse is an amazing hotel. The entire building has been meticulously restored and the rooms are so homely yet beautifully modern. The food was suberb and the owners are extremely gracious and lovely. The hotel is the total package. Would love to come back. Thanks, Tina

Can't rave enough about this oasis of style and comfort in country NSW. It's more like a privately-owned manor house than a hotel. You feel at home as soon as you walk in the door and meet the charming hosts, Andrew and Haddon (and Gus, the four-pawed doorman) . The rooms are modern and comfortable, the meals are delicious, the... More

We were warmly welcomed by Andrew when we arrived for our overnight stay on 21 July, 2014. The hotel has been wonderfully decorated and was very comfortable and was simply superb. We had a delicious dinner there in the evening, the food being sourced locally and beautifully prepared and cooked. Breakfast was also delightful with the food being prepared perfectly... More
