Stayed for one night to go to the Festival of speed. Only booked a week before and got the last available room so we weren't expecting too much. We got lucky and were given the New Sussex suite. A huge and very comfortable bed and the addition of a settee. So much better than having to sit on the bed... More

Had a very nice weekday lunch here with some colleagues. We all had burgers and fries which was well presented and very tasty. Overall atmosphere was quite but pleasant. The Landlord is extremely friendly and helpful and bought our second round of drinks to the table since we were still eating. Service on both drinks and food was a tiny... More

At the risk of suffering the wrarh of the owners (see other reviews that have negative feedback) we came here on a flying trip for sister's birthday. Paid £130 for a family room which was supposed to be a double bed and a single. I was very disappointed that in fact it was twin beds with just a mattress on... More

Hi, We have recently taken over the New Sussex Hotel, and I have not responded to any reviews previously : ) . booking.com quite often specifies only a triple or a dbl bed, when we get the booking in, sometimes a guest has stated a preference of twin or dble, but quite often if that is not stated it is... We had a delicious lunch at the hotel today with great friendly service. The food was served very quickly and this hotel is in walking distance to the sea front. We would definitely recommend and the staff were very helpful.

We've just returned from a lovely night away staying at the New Sussex Hotel in Lancing. We arrived at about 7 and were shown our room - sea view, freshly deccorated, larger bed with crisp white linen. We then went to the bar and I had my free glass of bubbles and my husband had Harvey's. The menu was very... More

Stayed here for 3 nights and everything was excellent. The staff were very helpful, and the en suite room i had was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was perhaps a litte on the small side, but tasty nontheless.I had to skip breakfast on my last morning,so the owner kindly provided a packed lunch.I'd have no hesitation in recommending this hotel/pub.

Two friends, my partner and I visited The New Sussex Hotel on New Year's Eve and stayed for the night. Firstly we went expecting too much as the rooms were above the pub down stairs BUT they were absolutely stunning! We took two room on the second floor and the beds were beautifully laid out, with new slippers and plenty... More

Yes it is rooms above a pub-which gets busy and the road is noisy. However the rooms were clean, well designed and comfortable, the staff were helpful and the cooked breakfast was really good. Waking up to sea views, a friendly welcome and happy stomachs was worth the odd siren in the night (emergency vehicle not greek enchantress!).
