Firstly, there isn't a great deal to choose from in Haywards Heath - it's more or less The Birch or nothing! I hadn't expected a great deal, but my stay was absolutely fine. The staff were friendly, and when it transpired that my employer hadn't confirmed payment in advance, they still allowed me to check in and call work the... more

I was tired and the room was quiet. The staff tried but then they had to try a lot as nothing seemed to be quite right - internet, restaurant, bar. The colours in the public area were in fashion in the sixties. The bedroom adequate. As usual for an English hotel too warm. The bar - half the time was... more

Stayed here recently on business. First the positives, plenty of on site parking although admittedly some parts of the car park could do with additional lighting! The hotel had the booking on their system when I arrived. Room service was reasonably prompt, and my orders were complete. However, in my opinion the menu could do with some spicing up to... more

Nice setting, nice building, shame about the service. Rooms are adequate for the price, but not much more. That's not a problem. The main issue I have is the disorganisation. Things simply don't work. They can't even bring the right wine. It's as if staff are simple functionaries not expected to know much. At breakfast they run out of things,... more

Stayed one night for a friends party held at the hotel - only thing we didn't like was the size of the room we had.Having said that very clean & comfortable. Breakfast was exceedingly good with lots of choice - because we were so many we had a separate funtion room - matbe they didn't want the other guests to... more

I chose the hotel as to be honest there wasn't anything else and it was convenient. The lobby was uninspiring and the restaurant, which you can see when you walk into the hotel looked very dated, with a purple, green and yellow colour scheme. There was evident refurbishment of some of the rooms and the corridors, but definitely still a... more

I stayed at this hotel for one night in March 2008 whilst on business in the area. The hotel was very clean, room was very well furnished and well equipped. Location was OK, but the hotel is right next to a busy road and traffic noise is quite loud at peak times. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I did... more

Booked well in advance 25 people for a Friday night meal and suprised to see no other guests eating, soon found out why, food was cold , dried up and unedible, After 2 courses sent back untouched did not bother with the desserts! The staff were most non caring when we complained about the meals and told us to write... more

Our stay was pleasant but it's nothing out of the ordinary, the old part of the building is very nice with good atmosphere and some original features however the bedroom decor is dated, with a bit of thought however it's the kind of place that could be fabulous if it could stay in keeping with the feel of the original... more

This is a very ordinary and moderate business hotel. We had booked a double non-smoking and received a twin smoking. In fact the whole hotel seemed to be totally impregnated with smoke during our stay. The breakfast was very poor; pre-cooked and unappetising. The waiting staff seemed to be asleep and seemed reluctant to clean all the mess from the... more
