The Bent used to have a bit of a reputation based on its chilly, Artexed interior with a bizarre collection of miserable brasses and an ancient carpet. But now, walls and floors stripped and atmosphere cosy, it can allow the very high quality of its food finally to shine. The menu titles suggest very ordinary pub grub - 'vegetable stroganoff,... The Bent Arms has had a makeover and it is a big wow, the lighting is much improved the original flooring in the restaurant has been brought back to life the beams have been made lighter in colour the furniture is fresh and the place is warmer. There is a terrific buzz in this beautiful village pub since it has... More

Oh dear, a friend suggested we meet at the Bent Arms, and it has a nice big car park. I used to enjoy visits there a few years ago, but I didn't expect that we'd have to keep our coats on. From 12.15 to 2.40 when we left, the heating hardly cranked up and the bar staff said they could... More

Stayed here for one night. As other reviewers have said the accommodation really needs a big refurbishment programme to bring it up to date. The decor was tired and old fashioned, and the ensuite tiny. However, the room was clean and warm, and breakfast was good. Wouldn't go out of our way to stay here again, but for a single... More

We stayed in the family room with our 15 month old son, we'd requested a cot and they had said that would be fine but when we arrived they didn't have one and initially said there was nothing they coud do!! Room was old fashioned, carpets filthy and old. Exposed pipes. In dire need of refurb. Only staff were in their... More

The bedroom was very tired and in need of a make over. HOWEVER it was spotlessly clean and just ok for the one night. The restaurant was a real revelation with fabulous food/service and incredible value in the evening although having high expectations, breakfast was a disappointment.

"I think room 7 is on the left. If not there's not many rooms up there so you should find it" That pretty much sums up my stay at The Bent Arms. The landing/hallway was cluttered with ironing boards, laundry, staff coats etc which only somewhat detracted from the carpet which was long past it's sell by. My room was... More

The poor old Bent Arms, it just does not hit the spot, most of the time. It is in the middle of a truly beautiful olde worlde village, which oozes charm and loveliness. The same can't be said for what used to be an old coach house. On a nice sunny day, the interior is just about acceptable. On a... More

Beautiful 16th Century building with charm and character. Room was very large and airy with separate private bathroom. Sound of birdsong, very little noise from pub below. Room felt peaceful and tranquil. Lots of storage space and hanging space for clothes. However, the standard of hygiene was very poor. The bedlinen had clearly not been changed after previous occupant, the... More

We stayed here a night whilst visiting family over the weekend. The room including breakfast was very reasonably priced and was clean, cosy and warm although a bit run down . The biggest issue was the bed - the mattress was very uncomfortable and the bed very hard, and only one bedside cabinet. There was a kettle and tea provided... More
