English hotels are often disappointing. Not cheap, rather ancient, damp, and with vestigial plumbing. This hotel has all the charm of England without the drawbacks. It has most of the modern conveniences in a traditional setting. We had booked three nights and planned to go to London for the following two, but extended our stay for another night here. In... If you like boring chain hotels, identical anywhere in the world, you won't like the Bailiffscourt. This is an amazing historic place, totally unlike anything you've ever seen before. Imagine a modern yet 'medieval' room with up-to-the-minute facilities yet with a real log fire you can light and enjoy (but do open the window first!). Lovely staff, great food, a... More

Beautiful settings let down by poor reception and even worse food. Very expensive for what it is. I shall not go into too many details but suffice it to say that we were totally disappointed from the minute we entered to the minute we left. We went to the reception when we arrived, to be shown to the restaurant. It... More

We only stayed for one night, but this is a fantastic hotel, especially in an area of the country where we aren't blessed with huge amounts of top quality hotels. We stayed in one of the feature rooms, had a lovely fire waiting for us, the room itself was very charming, more classic in style than my general personal preference,... More

The several buildings which make up the Hotel complex look as if they have been there since the days of Henry XIII but, in reality, are less than 100 years old. The interior continues the theme with success and the fact that the reception ares are divided into a number of smallish connected rooms adds charm and intimacy. Our Christmas... More

Went for a one night stay which included the Champagne reception, carols in the little chapel, dinner and breakfast next morning. I have to say we were very pleasantly surprised, we had a feature room that could be reached by an underground tunnel - great fun! It was in the thatched house section. Don't expect all chrome and glass in... More

I stayed here for a night recently and was very impressed with the whole hotel. It really is luxury and a hotel that I shall definitely be returning to. After a long day it was great to unwind in the gym and pool, I especially loved the outdoor hot tub! Couldn't fault anything about my stay, I was very well... More

Good menu choice and wine selection. All delicious. Had coffee in one of the cosy lounge areas. Staff were welcoming and dealt appropriately with the different guests they had. Took an after lunch stroll to the beach but it was too windy a day to linger! Expect you need to book a table to avoid disappointment at busy times.
