The George is a contemporary hotel with a lovely restaurant, welcoming bar and outside seating in the market square (lovely atmosphere) We were greeted by Paul who bent over backwards from showing us to our room (Fig) to serving us at the bar, also being our server in the restaurant. Varied menu good portion size extremely tasty food, excellent value... More

We enjoyed our stay at the George Hotel. On the positives, friendly response when we got there, good parking, location & easy access to Stratford-Upon-Avon (we used the bus - 25 mins). Very good evening meals - but could improve on the service (pancakes were cold by the time they were served to me - despite this lovely flavour). Lovely... More

We enjoyed our visit but had a few issues that influenced the rating. We booked a room upgrade so there was plenty of space but there were many steep stairs to reach it. Check in was very good and the reception staff carried our case for us which was appreciated. The restaurant was very busy so it is best to... More

We stayed for 2 days dinner bed and breakfast in the chocolate room which is large overlooking the front, great room only negative is limited opening of windows which I like to open out even if it's busy outside. The food was very good overall, the cooked breakfast was as comprehensive as I have had at any other hotel, and... More

We went for a family meal with 3 adults & 1 child, it was a Sunday and there were only a few tables in the restaurant but the beer garden was fairly busy as it was a sunny afternoon.from the outset the experience was poor, no menus offered till we asked, drinks order finally taken but did not arrive till... Stayed for 3 nights - been an absolutely wonderful weekend. The staff are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Stayed in the chocolate room which is the best room in the hotel - lovely big room & bathroom - the bed is one of the most comfortable I have slept in...a real struggle to get out of in... More

We have had many meals at the "George" and I regularly pop in for a morning coffee. It is a very pleasant old building with a nice bar and comfy chairs. It can get busy at weekends, particularly on a Friday, so worth booking meals in good time. It is right in the centre of Shipston, on the market square.... More

We went for a weekend away to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We originally chose the George as we'd been bought a Cream Tea as a present and thought we'd combine the two. The atmosphere was great fun and the staff were really pleasant and thoughtful around our wishes. The room was on the small side but clean and tidy. It... More

We booked 3 nights at The George, but stayed one. The positives were that one staff member, Chloe Jones, was very helpful, and the breakfast was good. We arrived to a very busy bar, and eventually found someone to check us in.  Our room was small, with the bed against one wall, but would have been adequate, and the ensuite... More

Having received a hotel voucher for Christmas, we finally booked a couple of nights at the George. Lovely little hotel with very characterful rooms, we had very wonky windows. But lovely and quiet and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was stunning, full English and as much else as you could eat, which set us up for our days out.... More
