The bar has broadsheet newspapers, cappucino machine and a warm welcome from young staff - good start. I was shown into a nice large bedroom, but it was at the front above animated drinkers spilling over from a nearby pub - so I asked for a quieter room at the back and was given one easily. The decor was interesting... More

Just returned from a weekend at The George. What a disaster! Our room (Scallops?)was so small that the double bed was pushed hard against a wall meaning you could only get into the bed one at a time, there was only one small bedside table and the shower room was so small that it was impossible to use the handbasin..... I had bought a gift experience for my partner and she chose to have a 2 day break away. We selected Shipston on stour for its location and ease of visiting local attractions such as Warwick Castle and Shakespeare land. The staff were very helpful and friendly, we stayed in the lobster room which was well equipped and very clean.... More

Visited with my wife to celebrate wedding anniversary. Upon arrival we were allocated small room but we're upgraded on request without fuss. Room was good with TV and DVD player. Good WiFi connection throughout premises. Generous breakfast but the evening (Tues) we booked to eat in the restaurant much of the menu had sold out by time we sat to... More

Noisy if you sleep at the front, but overall good hotel with friendly staff. Food was excellent but you must book the resturant in the evening. Parking at the back, but also used for those visiting the bar therefore we had to park 1 mile away.

Stayed here as part of a wedding last August. I found a discount for this hotel on Amazon local for 2 nights. The first night we stayed in a lovely room, spacious and clean. The second night we had to move and we to a room which was situated over the kitchen. The room was filled with a "roast" dinner... More

Visit here after a friend brought me a voucher deal as a Christmas gift. The village and surrounding villages are lovely! The hotel I found the staff despite all being extremely young were helpful and polite. The venue is impressive but been done on a budget. But just adds to the character, I didn't expect a modern pristine venue and... More

Visited The George for some lunch. Ordered a small (starter) size portion of fish cakes. Was served a large portion which I pointed out to waitress when food arrived. Despite this was charged for large portion. When I asked for this to be corrected, waitress came back and apologetically told me the Manager (didn't have courage to speak to me... More

After being given a Two Night Getaway voucher for Christmas, I finally booked The George Hotel. The gentleman I spoke to on the telephone was very polite and helpful and I have to say, that was the overall impression I got from the staff when we arrived. We stayed in The Lobster room. It was small, clean and cosy, had... More

We booked this hotel in January through a gift of a red letter day and were very disappointed with the accommodation. The confirmation claimed that the hotel had been fully refurbed but there was no evidence of this, although there was lots of building work going on adjacently. In fact the hotel was decidedly shabby. Our room, popcorn, was very... More
