We needed somewhere for family to stay locally as the house was full, so chose the white bear. Must admit with a very fastidious mother I was worried. I needn't have worried. Wendy and Jan were very welcoming and friendly as was Nina and the other staff. The breakfast was faultless and the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon was very... More

Dining area was quite a contrast to the "tap room", where two large screen tv's showing sky/BT sport channel dominate. Reasonably-priced well cooked food (pan fried liver was perfect) was in contrast to most other Cotswold pubs in the area, which seem to cater mainly for the well healed clientele! Just need a good real ale on tap and this... More

The welcome at the White Bear is tremendous. We stayed over on Saturday night. The room was small but very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We did find though that the bar downstairs was very noisy until 1am, although this was probably more noticeable on a Saturday night than other nights. Breakfast the next day was delicious, generous and freshly cooked... More

We stayed for two nights and were delighted with the experience. Room was clean and pleasant and the food very acceptable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful with Olli (Management) a particular star. If going back to revisit the district in the future we would definately be happy to stay there again. If you decide to book at... More

I always baulk at the thought of going into a pub for lunch as the meals can be huge and high in carbs which I cannot eat in quantity. However, having been warned that there might be a bit of a wait for food, I don't think that twenty mins is too much if you've had warning. Due to my... More

We enjoyed a one night stay at the White Bear. Being a historic 18th century coaching inn the building lay out and room were delightfully quirky as such places should be. Sloping floors, twists and turns. Adequate size car park. Vibrant bar and lounge. We had room No9 – not much of a view, fairly quiet (some noise from the... More

This was recommended as 'just somewhere basic to stay', by a friend. This was far better than we expected. The hosts, Jan, Wendy, Olli & their staff were very friendly and chatty; rooms were clean and homely; breakfast was brilliant and the evening meal we had whilst there was of a very high standard with a great choice of menu....
