My partner and I have been using the long shoot once a month when we come up to pick my stepchildren up for the weekend for 3 years now. We always arrive late at night after a 3-4 hour journey after work. Whenever we ring up to book or for any other query the staff are very friendly and helpful, and when we first started going there the night porter was also very friendly and gave good service. However the last few months there has been a different man who isn’t as friendly and takes forever to answer the intercom system, leaving us outside in all weathers waiting. Sometimes we have to go into the bar restaurant to actually find someone to book us in.

The hotel its self is chalet style giving you your own front door, rather than one to a corridor. The rooms are small, but adequate all with ensuite bathrooms, complimentary tea and coffee and TV, trouser press - just the usual basics you would expect.
