Woodchip wallpaper and just two single sockets (one outside the bathroom and one in the bedroom) to power up mobile phones laptops etc. You know you are onto a winner when the person checking you in suggests that you have dinner down the road at a rival hotel and not in the Campanile and then gives you directions to the... Stayed in this hotel for a long weekend, hotel is very dated, the bar area (if you can call it that, has torn and stained furniture, the rooms are very dated and carpet stained. Food was edible, nothing to write home about though, and on the Sunday night they had a black board menu which comprised of gammon or two... More

My husband and I booked an overnight stay through laterooms...thought we'd booked a real bargain as laterooms rate was £120 and we secured room at £55 with breakfast included. Staff were friendly and helpful, location from motorway was excellent.... The room OMG!!! I didn't expect 5 star but the room was awful...the moment we opened the door the smell of... More

We stayed here as all other hotels in the area were full. The room cost was reduced to £50 for one night which is very reasonable for the area but the hotel is by no means up to the standard of other hotels we have stayed in around the Durham area. The room was very dated with basic commodities, the... More

Great place near A1 to break journey. Comfortable, basic and reasonable price. English breakfast was excellent. Walked to nearby Toby Inn which was busy and average but useful for evening carvery. The receptionist/ barman was very helpful and friendly making us very welcome.

We thought we'd got a bargain with this hotel, £120 knocked down to £39, a 5 star price knocked to a 3 star. The staff were very helpful and couldn't have been nicer however the the decor was very dated. The beds were clean and very comfortable however the bath had a stain around the plug hole and it felt... More

We stayed for one night in this hotel while visiting our son who was inSouth Shields hospital. The hotel was very reasonably priced and for a budget hotel was fine. We purchased breakfast in the morning I had continental and my husband had full English both were fine. Room was adequate and bedding was clean but bathroom needed a coat... More

This hotel is right next to the A1, the window latchs was broken, the lamp was broken with the actual lamp hanging from the lamp holder on the table. The noise from inside the hotel was terrible with slamming of doors constantly. I had no sleep and was sitting an exam the next day. Rooms are dated. Staff however are... More

Stayed at the Campanile with friends, as part of an organised coach trip. Having read some of the previous reviews I was a bit dubious about the stay; what a great surprise. The twin room was clean and tidy, and everything worked as it should. To me that's all that matters; it's a hotel not a show house and I'm... More
