I stayed here for 3 nights whilst seeing the sights in the area. The location is very good right next to the A1(M), although if you want to go south it's a rather long way round. The room was very clean and quiet with a very comfortable bed. The reception team, particularly Natalie, were very helpful in advising nearby eating... More

Ok, it's cheap, I get it. But surely one should expect a fairly sound proofed room and clean sheets? It's fair to say I was awake most of the night by either passing traffic on the A1 or trying to resolve an itch! The room was roasting hot and had a peculiar 'damp' smell in it. Open the window, right?... More

Comfortable, clean and affordable stay. We stopped here on our way to Edinburgh and decided to have a 2 night break as that allowed us to visit Beamish museum.( A small admin charge for changing from the one night to two.) Ian on reception was very helpful as to options for dinner and directions.

On arriving at hotel We were concerned about noise level from the Lorry bay and motorway especially as I like to sleep with window open ,however we rarely heard any noise at all considering bays were busy

This was the 4th time we have stayed at this location over the last three years and it was by far the best, since the first time we visited it has greatly improved and it was a lovely stay, it is a bit out of Newcastle however but it was very easy to get into the town centre.

Over the past 4 weeks my wife's health had deteriorated markedly. So although we hadn't requested disabled facilities when booking I gave the Travelodge a call just a few days before arrival and Alison was extremely helpful in organising a ground floor room with wheelchair access. That took a lot of pressure off the trip - thank you! The room... More

We booked this Travelodge to visit Durham University's open day, for which it is ideally located. After a nightmare journey because of overnight A1M closures we arrived at 11 pm tired so it was good to have a clean comfortable room to crash in. Bed was good, free tea & coffee (& biscuits), receptionist was very welcoming & pointed out... More

+ The staff were friendly and welcoming + The bed was comfortable - TV didn't work properly - No air con, no fans, and the windows barely open - Paper-thin walls - No cold water from the shower at all (combined with no air-con, on a hot day...I resorted to buying ice from Tesco to cool myself down) - Hairs... Stayed at this hotel while up in the North-east to see the Foo Fighters concert at the stadium of light in Sunderland. The hotel was very clean and basic. The staff at the hotel were excellent, they helped us with every request we had. The only down side is that the hotel is right next to the A1 and sleep... More

We had an overnight stop here to break our journey to Scotland and were not disappointed. The young lady who greeted us was very friendly, helpful and offered advice on where to go and where to eat. The accommodation was spacious, spotless and comfortable, and we didn't notice the noise from the car park. Also you got free 30 minute... More
