Our stay at the travelodge would have been fine apart from the discoloured bath water. It came out a horrible dirty orange colour and was very off putting. My most dissapointment was due to being informed by the hotel receptionest that they were aware of the problem and yet it hadn't been sorted.

Has improved a lot since the last time we stayed here as a family. Great location. A little frustrating to find as postcode is same for both Northbound and Southbound but everyone was in the same boat. Close to the Metro Centre. Even though on the motorway we didn't hear any of it.

We booked this hotel 9 months in advance so we got a super cheap price of £17! We only needed one night as we came up for a wedding in nearby, but this really suited our requirements. The rooms were clean, quiet and the beds were comfy, plus free parking.

For £43 a night? Very Good! [Always have to consider the price being paid.] Very warm. New heaters very efficient and quick to warm up. Clean throughout and I mean properly clean, the room was recently refurbished so obviously easy to keep on top of things. Furnishings new but on the cheap side. Comfortable bed. Lights are garish, not soft.... More

The hotel has gone through the "fresh new look" and has benefited from it. The room was clean and warm and, surprisingly, very little noise came from outside. The addition of secondary glazing has helped. The bathroom was clean and fittings worked perfectly. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The Travelodge was a lovely place to stay, despite being by the side of the A1(M) there was not much noise inside the room. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, well kept and very comfortable. The only drawback was no restaurant or cafe at this site but the team member on reception was happy to help... More

We stayed one night while visiting Beamish and what a pleasant surprise for a Travelodge. We only paid 28GBP so l didn't expect a lot, but the room was very clean and a good size. The two lots of double glazing kept the noise down from the lorry park next to the hotel. The refurbishment was very good, nice bright... More

We stayed two nights here, on the way up from Derby to Edinburgh. I dont understand why anyone would give it a bad review. We paid peanuts for the room, the service was impeccable, the location spot on, the bed super comfy, couldn't ask for more. And as many others have done (and once we figured out where it was)... On our way to the Borders region, we decided to break it up & this seemed like the ideal positon. Only after booking did we realise that we had never stopped at a roadside location before, especially one on such a busy road. You wouldn't have known. Silent. One of the lodges to have been given the makeover, nice size... More
