We spend a single night here, after taking the boat from the Netherlands to Newcastle. This is a very quiet guesthouse, in a nice area close to the sea. We had a nice, clean, big room. The owners were friendly, and tried to help us on our holidays. The breakfast was a good English breakfast.

Great 3 day stay with Chris and Gill whilst attending AIS training facility over in North Shields (20 min drive £1.60 in the tunnel) Really nice place, friendly hosts, clean, comfortable bed and amazing breakfast, not sure what else you can expect from a great B&B to be honest! Plenty of choice for eating in the area, local shop a... More

Very quiet and very clean. Short walk from the main street. The breakfast included was made to order and delicious. The hosts incredibly friendly and accommodating. The beds comfortable. The rooms are a bit small but it is a house converted into a hotel and in England everything is smaller so I'm OK with that. The hotel is on a hill... More

It's a few years since we stayed at The Britannia but it's still a great place to stay. It's the perfect antidote to chain hotels. It has a friendly atmosphere, lovely rooms and the breakfasts are delicious. It's not far from the town centre but is nice and quiet. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We have just stayed... Weekend away visiting my home town and we stayed at the Britannia. Very friendly and welcoming nothing is too much trouble . Britannia is ideally situated the only downside is Julian Ave is situated near the top of a couple of steep streets. However to get into the town centre you can walk along Julian Ave to the end where... More

This was our second stay here in a family room. We stayed on the 4/5 April and we were excellently catered for by the very cheerful Ellen. Our room was very clean and comfortable, with a sea view from the bay window. The setting of the guesthouse makes it very quiet both day and night. It is only a 2... More

We travelled as a group of 7 and really enjoyed our 2 night stay. Great value for money! We had booked for 6 but when we turned up at breakfast as 7, the staff quickly prepared another breakfast, despite having to cook another breakfast from scratch, we didn't wait long at all and they were very efficient in dealing with...
