I stayed at this hotel on the 12 July to attend a local wedding. I found the staff very nice and helpful I feel that the 2 previous reviews were extremely harsh given that full refunds and partial refunds were given. I work in complaints and know how that works! My room was large, clean and yes it was hot..but air... More

We were staying at the hotel as we were attending a wedding nearby. We arrived to an empty reception, eventually a young girl who seemed who possessed all the customer service skills of a rattlesnake checked us in. We were given a large spacious room on the 1st floor, unfortunately this was all it had going for it, it was... More

I stayed with my family at the George Inn on the 12th July in room 6 and cannot believe that they can actually charge £85 a night for a family room. I should have spotted the warning signs long before we actually arrived as the response time to my email enquiries was somewhere between slow to non-existent and this was... More

Would not stay here again! Room was dated, grotty, dark and falling apart! The noise from the road meant that the window had to be shut and therefore the room was unbearingly hot. The staff that dealt with us when checking out were terribly rude and they have clearly never had any customer service training. Really disappointed with the whole... More

This is a special place, from the warm welcome of the staff, the cosy fires, the magnificent Slaters ales (including the notorious 'Top Totty') and the food, with generous portions tending to be double the amount you find on a normal restaurant menu. It's difficult to go wrong in picking something to eat, but hard to decide what to choose... More

Oh dear, what a disappointment. Visited Castleton on a beautiful spring day & spotted rabbit pie advertised outside this charming inn, ideal - I LOVE rabbit pie. A lovely pub with excellent ale & pleasant staff. I ordered the pie & my partner ordered the philly steak & salad. When the food arrived I tried the chips, they were lukewarm.... More

Went to the George on a rainy Saturday afternoon , the lamb shank and fish & chips were tasty and good sized portions as usual. The beer is aways good along with fast friendly service with a nice open fireplace .The menu has something for most people Well worth a visit.

We are a small inn within the village of Eccleshall, we do have wi fi access in public areas but unfortunately to the building being so old and with thick walls we cannot guarantee that wi fi is available in all rooms. We have a large bar area serving food every day and a restaurant for those who wish to try something a little different. We have 6 beers on handpull with a large selection of lagers, ciders and soft drinks. For those who wish we also have a cocktail menu. We do occasionally have live music on ... more   less
