There's lots to say about this hotel. After reading all the more recent reviews I wasn't looking forward to my visit here. However it's no where near as bad as made out. Yes the rooms are very tired and need a lot of work to bring them up to scratch but I have stayed in worse. The beds are solid... More

Stayed here in July for the weekend. My single room was dusty and dated, the wardrobe smelt very musty so I opted not to use it. The bathroom was tiny with 20 dead wasps on the bathroom on the windowsill which I cleaned up. There is no Wi-Fi only right next to the reception desk so I couldn't face time... More

I stayed at this hotel on the 12 July to attend a local wedding. I found the staff very nice and helpful I feel that the 2 previous reviews were extremely harsh given that full refunds and partial refunds were given. I work in complaints and know how that works! My room was large, clean and yes it was hot..but air... More

We were staying at the hotel as we were attending a wedding nearby. We arrived to an empty reception, eventually a young girl who seemed who possessed all the customer service skills of a rattlesnake checked us in. We were given a large spacious room on the 1st floor, unfortunately this was all it had going for it, it was... More

I stayed with my family at the George Inn on the 12th July in room 6 and cannot believe that they can actually charge £85 a night for a family room. I should have spotted the warning signs long before we actually arrived as the response time to my email enquiries was somewhere between slow to non-existent and this was... More

Would not stay here again! Room was dated, grotty, dark and falling apart! The noise from the road meant that the window had to be shut and therefore the room was unbearingly hot. The staff that dealt with us when checking out were terribly rude and they have clearly never had any customer service training. Really disappointed with the whole... More

This is a special place, from the warm welcome of the staff, the cosy fires, the magnificent Slaters ales (including the notorious 'Top Totty') and the food, with generous portions tending to be double the amount you find on a normal restaurant menu. It's difficult to go wrong in picking something to eat, but hard to decide what to choose... More

Stayed on Satuday night whilst visiting friends. The rooms ok for what its is. Its not the Ritz but it did us just fine. After a few issue were resolved about dangerous heaters in the room as there was no central heating we had a good enough night sleep and the breakfast was lovely. Like i say dont expect high... More
