From the outside the Dolphin looks a little tired and inside it also looks a bit gloomy and tired but, although the hotel is very old, it was lovely and warm and the bedroom was good and the bathroom very good. We had a meal in the dining room which was again very good. Certainly a hotel to be tried... More

We stayed one night at The dolphin while in Wincanton for the horse racing. Our room was a good size with an obviously new shower room. First impressions at this hotel are not good. The surrounding area is very tired looking. Hallway, stairs and room carpet all stained where people had clearly spilt drinks. Apart from that the room was... More

Second time staying at this hotel, 12 months on, and have to say the bedrooms and bathrooms are looking a little tired, when after an £18 increase on room rates is not good. The staff behind the bar are very friendly and helpful, as is the manager when you phone in. I requested wheat-free and dairy-free options for meals but... More

I stayed here with my 8 yr old son, we found the hotel quite easily, but had to ask directions to the car park around the back, we arrived fairly late and there were a lot of people outside the pub entrance smoking, which you had walk past to get to the hotel reception, my son didn't like that, if... I chose this hotel as an overnight stop. The hotel is old, but the room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, with a good, modern bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful - nobody was at reception when I arrived, but they were easy to find at the bar. The room was quiet, but the bed was not particularly comfortable -... More

We chose this hotel because it was very close to a wedding we were going to the following day and was in a famouse town, we were very supprised that most of the shops closed at 1 pm on a Saturday that's if they opened at all or weren't closed down, the hotel looked pleasant, rooms were spacious and nice... Stayed here for one night as it was very very noisy couldn't get to sleep at all. People downstairs in the pub area were sreaming and singing. Rooms were nice and good price but I wouldn't recommend staying here

This 1774 building is lovely. Rooms are small but sufficient and clean. Breakfast freshly cooked and served in the old stables. Very nice. Service with a smile. What more could you want for the night and at such a good price. "Locals" advised us against staying here. Can't tell you why though. Perfectly adequate. Little noisy until the pub shut... More

Arrived yesterday after horrendous journey from West Sussex. Staff very welcoming, shown to a comfortable twin room as booked a few days earlier on the phone. Plenty of free parking, good free WiFi in the room and down in the public areas. Evening meal good and excellent cooked breakfast which set us up for the day ahead. We booked for... More
