On arriving at the hotel, we walked into reception to find the male cast of Hollyoaks drunk and rowdy in the bar, apparently staying there for a charity football match. When I seemed concerned that our little ones might be kept awake by the noise if we were located near them (they were already rowdy and it was only 2pm!),... More

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in, dirty, scruffy, smelly, probably a health hazard, to be avoided at all costs. The staff are rude, and like the hotel scruffy and unappealing. The bedroom was freezing cold, damp and mildewy, the food was vile and expensive to boot. Altogether a most horrible experience, the place should be closed down. They will... More

arrived at 5pm and within a few minutes into our room. lovely and warm on a cold evening, preview TV turned on and a bottle of wine opened after a day at the shops. The room was very dated compared to a modern Holiday Inn/ Hilton etc but very clean and tidy and not their prices. We stayed with a... More

Well.... What can I say apart from our experience of the Laburnum was definitely interesting. When we arrived, you would be forgiven for thinking we had travelled there in the Delorian as it was straight out of the 1980's. We were greeted in reception by a chap who's untucked shirt, mud splattered trousers and trainers left you extremely uncomfortable. Although... More

Just got back from one night stay on a Groupon deal. I thought I would just read the most recent review before adding my own and had to laugh. We had exactly the same experience as previous reviewer! Lovely room, food was excellent. Restaurant looked lovely. But bar area was cold. Suggest visitors wear warm clothes for meals.

If you don't mind being cheated then stay at these army barracks. Whatever you do , don't let them get anywhere near your credit card. I was royally ripped off. I booked this hotel for a Tuesday and a Thursday at the rate of £50. It was so bad, cold dirty scruffy full of cobwebs uncomfortable, absolutely disgusting. I couldn't... More

Rooms were cheap, and the facilities were pretty good and I must say that the breakfast was really really good really nice fry up and was buffet style but great English breakfast. The bar was well stocked and reasonable priced, the male staff were grumpy especially the barman though the female kitchen staff were really nice, bit more effort and... More

We booked here for 2 nights on the recommendation of an aquantance. The welcome was lukewarm and the entrance and bar leading to reception dark and dreary. The room, which was adapted for disabled was large and spacious and the bed was clean and comfy but the room was freezing cold although we did have a convector heater to use.... More
