Cosy romantic en suite Shepherds hut with double bed and wood burning stove set in a private orchard on the edge of the village of Porlock, within Exmoor National Park, 5 min walk to pub, 10 min walk to beach. Dogs welcome and the odd tent for children.
We stayed in the barn with our baby daughter in Aug 2015 & had an amazing stay. Michael was a fantastic host, even taking the time to give us a lift to collect our car after it had broken down! The barn is a lovely place to stay, the eco loo & bathroom work really well. Michael’s breakfasts are superb & he’s the perfect host! We’d love to stay there again some time.

Michael, thank you ever so much for our fantastic weekend in your shepherds hut. We truly loved it there and you are the perfect host . The shepherds hut bed was so comfortable and we both slept so well, for me this was fantastic as I don't usually . The wood burner made for very cosy evenings in as was a bit chilly out in the evening and found it pretty easy to get going although I did bring fire lighter blocks with me, I do bring them with me every time for this kind of get away . It also has an electric heater which heats up the Shepard hut very well if you don't fancy lighting the fire. This is the first sheperds hut we have stayed in with a built in shower and toilet, this was such a nice added luxury , the shower is leave, it's lovely and hot. outside of the hut there is a table and two chairs and a BBQ , beyond that a huge area of grass and a few fruit trees , very very relaxing and also so lovely to hear the owls. The breakfast that Michael lays on is second to none and he is very thoughtful in how you want it cooked if you are having the full English , Michael also lays on other breakfast cereals, jams, etc . We really couldn't recommend this place enough and if we come to Pollock again we will definitely book up. Thank you again Michael , All the best and we hope to stay again Shaun and Cassie …

Had a lovely 3 night stay in the Shephards hut. It was very cosy, had an eco loo and good powerful shower, comfy cosy bed and private outdoor space to BBQ in and sit out. It was very peaceful with a few cars passing each day. Easy to get to differant places on foot and in the car. We had a lovely cooked breakfast each day, with all locally produced food in the very old farmhouse. We were very well looked after and loved it there.

Terrible, owner rude, hostile and generally unpleasant. Book shepherd hut recently for my 40th. Ended up not staying there. " we where told he did want our kind of people there" Lucky we found accommodation near buy which was nice and far better.

Response from Michael L, Owner at Doverhay Farm Shepherd's Hut
Responded May 23, 2017
We have over the past 6 year hosted many LGBT guests and enjoyed having them stay as much as I hoped they enjoyed staying. The difference between our previous LBGT guests and Mr Booth and his partner was that they were courteous, considerate and gave one confidence of them being responsible guests and showed none of the petulance and rudeness of Mr Booth and his partner.

We stayed two nights in the shepherds hut. It was quiet, very comfortable and clean. It was great to have the en-suite facilities and the shower was brilliant! The breakfast in the farmhouse was all made from farm produce by our friendly host! The recommeded pub was just a short walk into the pretty village, where there was a variety of other places to eat as well. There were lovely walks nearby - especially to the gorgeous Porlock Weir! We really hope we can return in the near future. This was especially good value all round. Thank you Michael for making our trip very special.

We had a great weekend in the shepherds hut, very clean and tidy. Michael is a friendly host who cannot do enough for you. The English breakfast made from local produce was excellent. Michael recommended a pub in the village for eating out and we were not disappointed. Overall it is a quiet place to stay for the weekend, and is well worth stopping there. We will be returning for another stay.

Nice Sheppard's Hut and peaceful, quite location. Great for walking off into the beautiful hilly woods and Moor nearby. Great full English breakfast, with sausages and bacon from the small farm. All topped off by a friendly and helpful host made for a nice short stay here.
