We arrived in the pouring rain so drove straight round the back to the small car park (a tight entrance off the street). We tried to find our way into the hotel reception from there, but the entrance we found looked so awful we were convinced we weren't in the right place so we went back round the front. It... More

A rambling old hotel with lovely friendly staff with a welcome for all. Some of the stairways smelt a little of damp and the public rooms and rear entrance were a little cluttered and perhaps in need of a spruce up but the bedrooms were homely and full of quaint charm. Its very reasonably priced and dogs are welcomed too.... More

A most enjoyable stay (24 October 2015)with a pleasant and friendly welcome by all at the hotel and excellent food, choice of food, service and value for the money for the area. Whilst not clinically pristine this hotel is clean and with character - a pleasant change from little boxes! And full marks for being truthfully 'dog friendly' and not... More

Have just spent a relaxing night staying at The Lorna Doone Hotel. We were greeted with genuine warmth and friendliness. We stayed at one of the courtyard rooms because we were travelling with our family dog and we were warm and cosy despite it being a cold , wet night. We were allowed to eat in the bar with the... We only stayed one night and received a lovely welcome. The room we were allocated was clean but very small and it needs some attention, especially the bathroom. However, the cooked breakfast was good and the owner and staff extremely friendly.

We stayed two nights in October, along with two friends, one of whom had limited mobility. When informed, the hotel kindly allocated a room that was easier to reach and made sure that everyone was comfortable whether it be in our rooms or the dining area. We had our evening meals at the hotel and found the menu varied; it... More

We stayed here for just one night and we wished we had stayed anothe night. Yes we had a small room on the top floor but the view from the window made up for it. We could see right scross the Bristol channel to the coast of South Wales. Porlock is really pretty and surrounded by beautiful countryside. the hotel... More

Stayed for two nights for our 30th wedding anniversary. Wonderful meeting Mo and the staff again plus some old friends from our last visit. As always a very warm welcome, wonderful food and wonderful company. I would recommend a stay here to any one who appreciates feeling right at home from the word go.

We had booked 4 nights & arrived on 31st August to begin a well earned holiday. When we arrived we were informed we were now room 7. On seeing the room I was close to tears & wanted to leave straight away. There wasn't a wardrobe to hang clothes & enough drawer space either. The furniture was mismatched & very... More

Thankfully we were only booked for one night in this hotel, we had been given one of the 'Courtyard' rooms although I don't really feel that a few pots of geraniums placed around the sides of a scruffy looking car park and the smoking area counts as a courtyard. The room was on 2 levels, the windowsills were dusty, enormous... More
