Stayed overnight in a room which was shabby and certainly not chic !! The room was certainly vintage ... looked liked it hadn't been decorated since the early eighties !! Grubby carpet in the ensuite and a shower cubicle that appeared to be an after thought !! The ambience of the room was far from welcoming, in fact it was... More

Had five rooms here on 12th July for our 30th wedding anniversary dinner. This is a pub with rooms rather than a hotel. You go to the bar to check in, and the staff were expecting us and showed us to our rooms. These included the Stag Lodge which is self contained with two bedrooms and bathrooms as well as... More

Just returned having spent 2 nights here for a short dog walking break. All the staff, and the owner were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room overlooked the garden and was extremely comfortable. We ate in on both nights. Great food and ale and we would definitely return.

The garden, tucked away at the rear of the pub, is a real delight, with sunny or shady corners and a well-designed children's play area. The service, however, is slow and poor. The food is almost cold before all the constituent parts have arrived. The meats on the Sunday carvery were extremely tough, and the vegetable portions were very mean.... More

First, the good bit (and there is only one good bit). This pub is dog friendly and, on entering the bar, assorted four legged breeds raised their heads to sniff in our general direction. Now, Mrs B and I really like dogs but, if it was a choice between revisiting this place or having to own a cat, "Here, kitty,... More

Staff v. pleasant but vague management and poor-quality food. Medium-rare steak over-cooked.Accompaniments straight from the sixties(frozen peas, mushroom, half a tasteless tomato) Would have chosen hake but 'We don't do vegetables, ' apart from new potatoes. 'We haven't any Dijon mustard' when asked for with steak. Medaillons of beef were not medaillons but appeared to be thin slices of topside on bed... More

We were warmly greeted here by the barman on our arrival, and were able to sample some ales before deciding which to buy. There is a happy hour when beer is £2.50 a pint, this ends at 6 pm. Nice ales. Food - a specials menu on the blackboard and a menu on a clipboard. Quite a variety to choose... More

Stayed here as a couple, booked quite late but still had a lovely room. The staff and proprietors were very helpful and friendly and polite. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and loved the style of the room. Food was also excellent, some nice guest beers available and enjoyed a good bottle of red.

We stopped at the hood arms (as we have done previously) for a meal and a pint yesterday (Sunday). We both had the Sunday roast, beef, for 9.95. First a beer which was excellent and one of the better pints of Exmoor Gold you will find. Second the beef and trimmings was both delicious and plenty of it. Came with... More

We visited Kilve for four days and the hood became our local. Amazing Sunday Roasts and they were really child friendly and our 5year old loved the garden. The staff were friendly and the food was really to a high standard even our daughter loved her homemade chips!, Service was excellent! Thank you.

The Hood Arms is a beautifully furnished 17th century inn with orginal oak beams, natural stone walls, and open fireplaces. We are located at the foot of the Quantock hills and just one mile from Kilve's 'moonscape' beach. There are 12 comfortable, fully equipped en suite guest bedrooms which have been rated AA 4 stars.
