Just returned from a wonderful break at the Hood Arms. This place is a little gem in the Somerset countryside. We stayed with another couple and our dogs. We could not have been made more welcome on our arrival. We were shown to our rooms with the offer of our bags being carried for us. The whole time we were... More

I have just returned from staying here for 3 nights. The landlord and his wife are lovely, all staff friendly and helpful, rooms exceptionaly clean and well looked after. The chef brilliant, food was fantastic, and there was plenty of it. It is nice to find a hotel that will take dogs. woild recommend this hotel.

I recently visited The Hood Arms at Kilve for an evening meal with my wife and 'grown' up children to celebrate their successful start at university. Upon our arrival the staff were expecting us, we had booked in advance. The waitress 'Bobby' made sure we all had drinks and showed us to our table when we were ready. The restaurant... More

Stayed here for 3 nights recently. Everywhere is in serious need of some TLC. The access to the bedrooms is shabby, yellow dirty paintwork, etc. Our room was big enough, enormous bathroom but so shabby. Bed spotlessly clean though. The bath was a joke, so small, there was a shower fitment but no shower curtain/screen and nowhere to hang the... More

We wanted a romantic night for two - first impressions on entering pub were positive, bar man was welcoming and decor is quirky with lots of hunting bit and pieces to see and well presented. Room was not as smart as the website had led us to believe and was fairly clean - bedding and mattress were excellent - tea... More

Aaahhh now where to start...... This morning me,my husband and 2 grandchildren had cause to stop in Kilvie as the 4 year was car sick. We cleaned and changed her, and then she wanted the toilet. Having spotted the Hood Arms, I crossed the road with my 4 year old granddaughter. Straight away I saw a sign advising travellers that... More

We booked the family suite for an overnight stay at the beginning of July. The building and grounds are lovely and my 6 year old loved playing in the Garden. Food good and the choice of beers also hit the mark. The suite itself was very nice and clean (albeit a few cobwebs!) and did have a slight wiff of... More

Stayed here in a family room. Our room was well appointed with a separate bedroom for the kids. The full English breakfast went down well. The inn is within walking distance of the local beach and a delightful tea stop. Modern TVs in both bedrooms and up market furnishings. Generally clean although the cleaner had missed some cobwebs in the... More

Just returned from a two night stay with our pooch and all we can say was that we were pleasantly surprised. We booked our trip last minute as we needed to be in the area and then we read the reviews here and thought that we had maybe made a mistake. However, don't dismiss The Hood Arms on the negative... Stayed overnight in a room which was shabby and certainly not chic !! The room was certainly vintage ... looked liked it hadn't been decorated since the early eighties !! Grubby carpet in the ensuite and a shower cubicle that appeared to be an after thought !! The ambience of the room was far from welcoming, in fact it was... More
