My husband and I live a few miles away fron Hinton St George but until now had never visited this pub. We booked lunch for just the two of us today to celebrate our Ruby Wedding anniversary and I must say the food and service we received was excellent. My husband had the roast beef I had the pork, both... More

We really enjoyed our one night stay here. The pub is in one of Somerset's prettiest villages (there's a lot of competition) and the pub looked very welcoming, arriving on the first sunny day for weeks and weeks. We parked on the street right outside (the car park is tiny, not a problem, it looked like it would always be... More

We took our family on the basis of the Tripadvisor ratings - and in no way were we disappointed, despite the twenty mile detour! This place has that indefinable "atmosphere" in spades - it's comfortable and characterful with a wonderful "posh country" style that acftually works, where it certainly doesn't in many other gastropubs I've seen. Friendly service, and the... More

Stayed two nights here (with dinner and breakfast) in March. Room warm and comfortable and the many staff consistently friendly and helpful. Food at both breakfast and dinner of excellent quality, with good wine list and well-kept beer. The walnut bread and local marmalade made a pleasant breakfast addition. Both rooms we ate in had log fires, relaxed atmospheres and... More

My husband and I had booked an overnight stay here in order to visit my elderly Aunt who is dying from cancer. When she was rushed to hospital several miles from her home 68 hours before our stay, we had to quickly change our plans to be nearer to her. I phoned the Lord Poulett Arms straight away but was... The pub has a splendid room for drinking with newspapers and magazines - and three separate rooms for eating. It would be impossible to find a more delightful ambiance. The food was excellent and superbly presented - including the twisted-ham, egg and chips starter, which I thoroughly recommend. The bedroom was spacious, immaculately clean and well-furnished. And the staff were... More

Their acclaimed twisted-ham, egg and chips was presented as an egg-cup sized ham rillette. It wasn't bad, just a bit too salty. The micro-fries were cold and soggy, the hen's egg (surely all eggs are hens eggs, by default, unless specified as duck, ostrich etc?) barely warm. The chef said that that was the way it was meant to be... More

We had a lovely meal with friends here one evening. Literally everything was delicious, the restaurant had a great atmosphere, and the staff were lovely. The wine list was marvelous and we were very pleased of the taxi home. Really very impressed. Its not a cheap meal, but it was very good indeed so we felt the price was justified.

I would like to thank all the staff for making our Christmas Meal a real treat! We were made very welcome and enjoyed the evening from start to finish. Charming venue, with staff who saw to our every need. We had a three course meal followed by the cheese selection all courses were exceptional in presentation and quality. I have... More

Ambience on arrival was ok and but staff seemed impartial. Our food was ridiculously overpriced for what was a VERY avergage small meal. "The triple cooked chips" didn't have an ounce of potatoe left in them and tasted like oily stale fat crisps. As we were trying to talk as a family gathering, there were dogs everywhere. We had our... More
