We went (4 adults and 1 child, ranging from 10 to 60 years old) for the Dunster by Candlelight weekend (4-5 December). Although it was raining at times, the views were wonderful. We arrived about 9pm on Friday and was warmly welcomed by Derek with tea and coffee. A log burner and comfy chairs made the experience (a dream winter... more

Having holidayed in the Wootton Courtenay area since I was four, I've known The Dunkery nearly all my life, although had never stayed there. Curiosity and a desire to stay in the area again after a not terribly successful sojourn to Exford led me to book a short break for my family and myself, and I'm so pleased that I... more

We enjoyed a great 3 day walking weekend with our friends at this really friendly hotel in a superb location. The accommodation is really comfortable and Derek and Beccy made us feel at home straight away. Nothing was too much trouble and they were always cheerful. The breakfasts set us up for the whole day and there was always a... more

On arrival we were given a very warm welcome by Derek who showed us to our room explaining along the way about fire exits, dining times, places to see. Once we had settled into our room we went downstairs and were greeted by Beccy. We enjoyed delicious home made cake and a cup of the tea on the veranda which... more

We booked this break at the last moment in an area we thought we'd enjoy. It exceeded all our expectations. The hopitality we received from Becky and Derek was first class in every way as was the accommodation. The sausages and bacon at breakfast were to die for made all the more enjoyable looking at the wonderful scenery from the... more

Being welcomed with tea and home made cake was a perfect start to our long weekend break. The Dunkery Beacon is a large house located in a quiet village with views of the moor and a great base for walking and visiting the nearby National Trust properties. The owners are so helpful and knowledgeable about the area, and nothing was... more

More a country hotel than B@B. Located in a quiet corner of Somerset, with truly wonderful views of the meadows and moors beyond. Refined, peaceful and welcoming. The large bedroom to the front of the house was delightful. Good breakfasts and good value. All in all, first rate. more

My husband and I took my 92 year old mother to this wonderful hotel. Mother was given a ground floor room with its own little sitting room so that she had somewhere to sit in the evening. She was thrilled that the bathroom had a shower as she is unable to get into a bath these days. Becky and Derek... more
