WHAT A LOVELY HOTEL - just what I was looking for to treat my girlfriend for a weekend away. Homely feeling and smell, warm friendly staff, SARAH made us feel very welcome, well decorated, excellent food , I would definetely recommend. My girlfriend and I always moan about poor food and service but I have no complaints at all here.... more

We only stayed one night so cannot comment about the locality and Exford area but the Crown is easy to find , parking is extensive and the owners & staff were very friendly and hospitable. Our room was very spacious , clean , well organised and with a very comfortable big bed.The only slight criticism would be there was no hook... more

My husband and I stayed at the Crown in early November, 2009. I booked over the Internet and the cost was £99 B&B on a weeknight. This was a decent rate for the heart of Exmoor in the middle of the shooting season. Easy to find using sat nav and sharp eyes. No-one at reception when we arrived late afternoon,... more

For a £150 pn B&B you'd expect the food to be pretty decent too, and glancing at the menu before I booked promised that. What a disgrace this was though, I felt v sorry for the waitresses/waiters who had to serve the muck out and then carry it back hardly touched. I honestly don't believe the chef has ever eaten... more

We recently had a great stay at the The Crown hotel. This will have been our fourth visit. All the staff were exetremely friendly, hospitable and helpful. The hotel bar and restaurant served delicious food, with a good hearty breakfast to set you up for the day. The bar was espicially busy with a fab atmosphere as residents, holiday makers... more

This is a delightfully relaxing hotel in the beautiful Exmoor National Park with good food served either in the dining-room or the bar - your choice. The bar is fun, especially when local people are in there after a day's work, chatting - they are all very friendly. A very dog friendly hotel with good rooms and service - I... more

We ate at The Crown on 25th July, choosing it over the other local pub on the strength of its restaurant menu and the promising website. We had a drink in the bar during the afternoon. Contrary to the website, this was neither particularly cosy or welcoming; our experience was similar to another reviewer's in that the place was pretty... more

Room very comfortable. Food in the restaurant was exceptional. Service was brilliant. Superb friendly service made to feel like part of the family. Breakfast was good and set you up for the day ahead. Would most definitely recommend. Will be back again sometime in the future. Just loved this hotel! more

On arrival at the Crown in the atmospheric village of Exford the reception staff impressed us with their warm welcome and quiet efficiency. Our room (No 2) was light and airy and spotlessly clean. A huge comfortable bed guaranteed us perfect sleep. Ok a little cosmetic upgrade is needed but we all have to decorate sometime. Don't come here for... more
