We stayed at the Crown on Friday 17th April. I had only booked the day before as I had struggled to find somewhere dog friendly and last minute, from the moment I telephoned the staff were fantastic, efficient and friendly. We were in room 8, top floor, but superb, lovely bathroom, great facilities and great view too! We ate in... more

too many times i've found a gem of a hotel only to return and find it spoiled. not so with the crown in exford. it just gets better. the new owners are wonderfully welcoming and attentive without being pretentious or overbearing. the pub attracts a friendly group of locals drinking local brews and good pub grub. the rooms, which are... more

We didn't stay here but sought it out because it has two AA rosettes for its food. The location is delightful, the service is friendly and really good, and the beer (Exmoor Gold) was exceptional. As was the food: somebody in this kitchen is really gifted. Make sure you leave room for the homemade sorbets! So good! more

This was part of my birthday present from my partner. The weekend we had planned to go, it snowed and we were unable to go but the staff were helpful and it was no problem to rearrange it for the following weekend. We arrived on the saturday evening and had a drink in the bar which had a relaxed and... more

After deciding on a long weekend to see my parents, I thought it would be good to show the other half part of the county where I come from. So decided on Exmoor. On booking the break I said to the member of staff handling my reservation I maybe late arriving on the Friday night as work comittments would not... more

Having just escaped the snow that has hit this region i wish i was back strandad there right now. As the various websites say its in the heart of Exmoor National Park but don't let that worry you. The village has more than enough going on and is very busy with visitors and locals alike, even at this time of... more

We stayed here for 2 nights between Xmas and New year. Our room (12) wasn't exactly huge but had a big bathroom and was nicely decorated and the bed very comfortable. One minor negative is that the door to the corridor didn't fit too well and the bed was quite close to it, so there was some noise from other... more

We stayed at the Crown over Christmas as a last minute decision, having to abandon a long distance walk in the Highlands for a tamer alternative in Exmoor. The hotel is located in a beautiful village in the heart of the National Park. The room we stayed in was clean, comfortable and a reasonable size for a 17th century inn.... more

We wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of London and take long walks in the country. Our chosen location was Exford, Somerset and after just 2 hours on a train from the manic Paddington Station, London, we were in the gorgeous Somerset. The Crown Hotel has a great location next to all the main places of attraction,... more

The location was beautiful, right in the heart of the Exmoor National Park. Reception staff were delightful, very friendly & welcoming. Our room, number 8, was very large for a pub type hotel. Everything was spotlessly clean with beautiful views of the picturesque village. Our evening meal was first class. The sea bass was outstanding, truly a meal to remember.... more
