We didn't stay here but did stop in for lunch. Menu was looking good with a mix of traditional favourites and some interesting touches. Now from the food it is clear this place was shooting for class, the very hand cut chips would have been magnificent if cooked slightly hotter for longer. I went for one of their gourmet burgers,... We stayed at the Star towards the end of July, breaking the journey to Cornwall from the North of England. Due to heavy traffic and terrible weather I had to phone ahead and put our pre ordered meal booking back, which was all handled very well. I'd describe our family room as adequate, nothing fancy and very clean. The pub... More

Second or third time here for lunch in recent months. Pub and garden have been refurbished to a nice relaxed style. Sunny and shaded areas to sit outside both grassed and decked. Kids play area, far enough away to not disturb eaters! Menu had a great chiice and they even amended it slightly to suit upon request. Definitely be back... More

Staff and food lovely, my cocker spaniel was very welcome in the bar area with water available just outside. Liver and bacon was delicious. My wife and daughter enjoyed their probably hand made burgers which were huge.

First impressions were not to good, left standing at the bar for three or four minutes then the Land Lady asked me if I was eating, when I said no she said someone else would deal with me and walked off, Totally child unfriendly, maybe some thought should go in the layout ie should the playground be located next to... i find your review a bit in coherent - there is no new management and i suspect your children were the out of control hooligans who were repeatedly asked to be controlled - good bye and please dont come back More

This pub has changed hands many times. However the recent change seems to have been the best one so far. (I should know, I live in Tickenham and used to bottle up there when I was 15). Very warm smily welcome, service was excellent. The decking outside is lovely. We moved into the conservatory to eat and it was very... More
